Default '00 SH tranny question...

My roommate has a '00 SH w/ approx. 12000 miles on it. He recently began having a problem shifting into 5th gear. At any speed there was a slight grind going into 5th, once it was in gear it was fine. Anyways, he took it to the dealer and they determined it was a bent "shift fork". I'm no tranny expert but I was just curious if this is a common issue or rather rare. He got great service from the dealer, the car was back on the road working fine only a day or two after he dropped it off.
Thanks.
M

That was very common on 97-98 cars, but I hadn't heard it being a big problem after that. Also not restricted to SH - also a problem in base models.

The bulletin # is 95057. That's a warranty thing, not nrmal wear and tear (just in case they gave him problems)
