suspension issues
couple issues i have a 94 honda del sol with the tein basic damper coilovers... car has 17 inch rims with 205/40/17 tires on it and i had a front strut bar.... ok... problems are that when im on the high way and i hit a bump going over 80 the wheels will bounce and rub on the top of the inside of the fender well where the metal parts meet in there and there is like a little black rubber thing covering the metal.. and the other thing is if im making a harder turn like a sharp turn at high speed and the wheel is turned all the way it will hit on the inside... basically im wonder if there is a way to make the wheel wells on the front of my car push back about an inch or 2 so that i have more clearance for my wheels without doing anything that will mess something up.. does it have to be custom done like cutting and welding or what?
ive raised it up the wheels are out of the wheel well the car doesnt even look that low.. like u can stick a ruler on the top of the tire and make it a 90 degree angle with the road its all the way raised up... its a LOT of bounce
What spring rates are you running? Are you springs and dampers still in good condition? Its an accepted fact that a lowered car will be more prone to rubbing; tire dimensions, how far its lowered, and spring rates will all vary that do a degree. But in the end, its something you'll need to learn to work around.
I was looking for some advice on what was up with my civic's suspension. I recently bought 1" lowering springs and new performance shocks. When I put the new ones in the shock in the back popped up through the mount. The mechanic said it was probably that the travel of the oem replacement shocks, even though perfomance, was too for the lowering springs...have you ever heard of this before?
LOL mechanics... a random joe off H-T probably knows more about cars than your average mechanic @ walmart or pepboys or the local garage.
It sounds like you forgot to include the washer that goes between the shock rod and the upper mount. Someone's got a nice diagram of this up somewhere.
Ask him how exactly the travel of the OEM shock would cause it to burst through the top of the upper mount. And when he begins to stutter and ramble and throw out random b.s., ask him to pay you for the busted mount because he f'ed up.

The thick metal heavy duty washer #11 must be missing. Usually when cars are lowered, #2, 9 & 10 are thrown away. If #2 is kept, and #11 is thrown out, you will experience a shock rod poping up...
That's because #2 is thin plastic...
