best way to prevent stereo/sub/amp from gettin stolen?
what is the best way other than bolting it down and taking the detachable faceplate with you? just tryin to get some ideas
Hide it as much as possible, I even make "dummy" plates out of oem HUs faces to install on aftermarket HU once face is removed.

1. alarm
2. stealth install
3. no stereo stickers on outside of car
4. don't bump your system everywhere you drive, especially near where you live or are going to park
5. don't tell anyone you don't trust 100% exactly what you have

Weld your amps to the back of your seat. lol.
Bolt your box down from the inside.. then screw your sub in.
Put a back strap on the back of your HU.. there's a small threaded hole in the center on the back.
Unclip the plugs going into your door lock switches.
Disconnect your door lock levers.
Lock your trunk release lever.
Get a DEI 515R backup siren.
Get a DEI 509U ultra sonic sensor (air pressure switch)
there's a lot of stuff.

Glad to see someone else uses these besides me.

making stuff harder to steal will only net you with even more broken **** after a theft attempt. if they cant easily remove it, they will just yank/pry it harder.
and if they still cant get it, they will probably just break more random **** out of anger.

We should just leave it out in the open unmounted, or maybe just have the proper tools to remove it and detailed instructions on a note, while we are at it, some milk and cookies, wouldn't want the crook to get mad because he was hungry.

dont just lock the trunk release..unhook the cable to it. I found out that i could unlatch my trunk release with a screwdriver if i knew where to poke. Just unhook the cable then only the key wil open the trunk.

Something I might add is not to blast your system when you get close to where you are going (even if you don't consider the area to be risky). Because if you do, then you are just advertising to everyone in the area that you have an expensive system. And when they see your car parked somewhere, they will know what you have. So turn it down well before reaching your final destination. The bottom line: just be discreet.

my ponit being don't park your car in a shady neighborhood and don't blast your music so that a whole 2block radius can hear you. if you pull home with your music blaring day in day out, someones eventually gonna notice and well, your car is right there day in day out, plenty of time to come steal it.
but i suppose if you do leave all proper tools, it would maek the theft much cleaner. dont forget to tape the key to the window in clear view so no windows are broken
