New guy here.
I hope this is the right place to post this.
I currently drive a SRT-4 but I am very unhappy with the total package this car has to offer. I am seriously considering a Civic Si.
I want to know all the pros and cons of owning the Si.
Thanks.
Steve

My bad...I'm talking about the 2006 Civic Si.
Nothing is wrong with the SRT-4, it just doesn't give me an all around good driving experience. Yes it goes fast..but that is the ONLY thing it does well. In all other driving catagories, it falls short of my expectations.

LOL. funny how you worded it.
as far as I know (my friend just bought a 06 si w/nav) he loves it, very good all around car. you should test drive one, you'll see. not bulky or anything, very fun to drive, handles good. also you're not stuck with a huge gap between the wheels which makes it looks nice.
as far as the options, make sure you get the navigation.
test drive one, i'm sure you'll be surprised. it compares with the rsx though, so if you wanted to save some cash, you could probably stick with a used rsx.

First off, welcome.
Secondly, the Si will most certainly be slower in a stright line than your SRT-4 and you might even find it a bit torqueless after the SRT-4 but you already stated you want a car with a better overall feal. To figure out if the feal of an Si is more to your liking I would suggest going to test drive one and see. I personally have never driven either so I would not be able to say.
I cannot think of any other cons off the top of my head (looks are subjective) of the Si but was just wondering, are you considering the Si coupe or the Si sedan that will be released for the 07 model year?
Regardless good luck with your descision.

Just wondering if you can be more specific. I sat in one and was turned off to the point where I didnt even want a test drive. Could you share your experience with it?

just watch the speedo and wait for the blinking light

well i don't have the shift light lol... but i like the new dash set-up.. looks SO NICE
i remember sittin in my friends EM1 (came to pick some stuff up from my old EM1) and i sat inside just to reminisce.. but actually i sat down and said.. damn.. how primitive lol
if your lookin for an overall feel i guess the FG2 is what your lookin for.. but I dont know.. my friend with his SRT4 says he's trying to build it to handle well.. in all honesty, that SRT4 (although nothing to do with handling) can't make a U-Turn for ****! lol.. i don't feel as comfortable takin turns in the SRT4 as i do in my bone stock FG1 lol

Hey TYPE X I hear ya, I did think it was strange and awkward at first and really wasn't to sure about how I'd feel about it once I spent some time looking at it. But now after 300 miles I freaking love it. It's like you said one of my favorite features of the car.
For other skeptics before you pass final judgement on this one thing you should honestly grab a friends car and put some mileage on there during the day and nite. I bet you'll be surprised with how you feel about it when your done. I actually think my other car is kinda boring to drive now. The dash really grows on you faster then you'd think.

Is there somewhere on here that explains what FG2, FG1, EM1, etc. means.
Thanks.</TD></TR></TABLE>
They are chasis codes and it can be very confusing at first. Eventually it will all make sence if you stick around here long enough. lol
Heres a few:
FG2- 06+ Si (coupe at least)
FG1- 06+ Civic coupe (non-Si)
FA1- 06+ Civic sedan (excluding hybrid)
EM1- 99-00 Civic Si
EM2- 01-05 Civic (non-Si)
EP3- 02-05 Civic Si
DC5- 02+ RSX
EJ8- 96-00 Civic EX (sedan and coupe) only included that one cuz that what I have
There are more but for this forum that should help you out a bit. If you venture to the 92-00 Civic forum it get even more confusing as some people like to use the JDM chasis codes for their cars (even though USDM). For example, my car is a EJ8 but some might call it an EK even though it is not.
