Gauge and Odometer not working
I have a 94 5th gen accord, recently i was driving and my odometer just stoped working. it's stuck at 270,899, well the 899 is kinda half way showing, i'm not too sure if it's cable problems or some kinda electral problem.
Now with my tempuratur gauge, it reads at over heat about the red. Before it did that and i would tap the dash a bit and it would lower but now it just dosn't go back to normal any more, it stays above red unless the engine is cold but once it's warmed up it shoots right back up to red.
any suggestions?

After this all is said and done, it will most likely be cluster related (electrical) failure.
The hints come from not only what's screwing up, but from the reactions you got when you whacked it.
Both the Temp Gauge and the Odometer are electrically driven:
The gauge uses a local power source, an internal reference ground and a variable ground signal from the temp sensor.
The Odometer uses a microprocessor controlled stepper motor which uses a local power source, a local ground and a synchronous signal from the vehicle speed sensor.
I think you can fathom where this is going.
Either the main harness connector has loosened, has contact issues or the cluster has failed internally, most likely a printed circuit issue.
