Alright - my taillights and interior lights do not work. I think its vinenuero's fault. I haven't done anything to my car - so this problem just kinda POPPED up!
I know they are in the same circuit - and for the record, the fuse keeps blowing. Knowing this, I 'assumed' something was grounding out. I took out my radio a while back, but I left the harness in...so I thought maybe a power wire was touching metal somewhere. I removed the harness, but nothing.
The fuse 'small light' is the protector for the circuit. This fuse requires a 20A.
I put in a 30A just to see if something would start smoking, but the only thing that started to smell was the fuse itself. So, knowing that - I don't think anything in my trunk nor behind the dash is grounding out.
Does anyone think something could actually be wrong with the fuse box itself?.... For the record, I have the ABS relay out - and one of the ABS fuses.
Once again, I haven't done anything to the car at all. Tomorrow, i'm going to check the switch - i guess thats a good place to start.
Give me some suggestions.

What led to this happening? when did it start? just out of no where? Do you have an after market deck? If so was a harness used? Sounds like maybe the dimmer wire could be connected to ground on the radio.

This just happened saturday night. There isn't a radio in the car, i took out the harness. So, i don't know what could have happened.
Like i said, i haven't done anything to the car recently at all. Especially nothing electrical.
I'm going to check the dimmer switch later today - because I had a a/f gauge hooked up there a while back. Its disconnected now, but something could have happened.

Need more info.... year and model of car, and you say "taillights", [also called park or running lights] and "interior lights", by that do you mean "dash lights" or "dome light"?
Tail and dash lights may or may not use the same fuse, dome light definitely uses it's own fuse.
If the radio is out, carefully inspect the red/black wire in the oem radio harness.
BTW, never install a bigger then designated fuse, by the time things start to "smoke" you can do a lot of damage to a wiring harness.

Taillights as in the running lights. Dash lights are referring to the heater controls. This is all on a 94 prelude. The heater control lights and taillights are in the same circuit - I know that for a fact.
Look for a blown fuse @ the underhood F/B. I sorta had the same issue in my old hatch when the parking light wire was snagged against metal...which kept blowing fuses left and right.

If the fuse "pops" as soon as you turn on the lights, then you are correct, you have a "dead short" someplace, and as I said, the first place to look is at the red/black wire in the oem radio harness, in fact all the pos. (+) wiring for "park lights" and "dash lights will probably be red/black, neg. (-), [ground] for the "park lights" will be black, the neg. (-), [ground] for the dash lights, controlled by the "Dash Light Brightness Controller", is red.
Your short is in the red/black wire.
