Default ahh some really bad times today!!

hmm today.. the track at pir in Wa. was open for test and tune.. since i just put a gsr motor in my hatch.. i figured i would run her.. expecting a 14.5-7 range..

first run.. vs tt rx7

r/t .153
60' 2.844 "burnt out all of 1st gear"
330 6.587
1/8 10.299
mph 73.64
1000 13.164
1/4 15.591 ...
mph 92.56

now.. i know the launch sucked.. 2.8 is horrible.. i was hopin for 2.3.. but w/ 30 degree weather the track was really cold and hard to grip..

shitty bald tires didnt help either prolly 35-40% tread left on some dummies i had on there..

my iab's arent set up.. and i have full 3'' exhaust for a turbo set up that was previously set up on the car.. i dunno if that would decrease the performance because of no back pressure or what?

2nd and 3rd runs.. i lowered my 60's to 2.4 by launching at alot lower rpm.. like 2500 is highest i could go w/o spinning like crazy..

best run i got in all day was 15.459!! this sucks ***..

in all runs, i was power shifting.. chirped 1st to 2nd, 2nd to 3rd, and 3rd to 4th... so after i got grip i was doing good.. but still 15.5's are not acceptable..

tell me what u think.. could be a problem as well.. motor not running "perfect" got some timing belt issues, and spark seams weak.. anyways for crap tires for mashin on the car leagally..

You should've tried not power shifting. The less spin the better. Usually when you lower your 60ft you get faster 1/4 mile times.

My first time with my B20 eg I ran 15.5 with a 2.8 60 ft since it was my first time even launching the car. Then my 2nd run I put down a 14.6 with a 2.2 60 ft. And On my 3rd run I got a 2.1 60 ft and ran a 14.4 and snapped an axel on my 4th run.
Hoping to do better this year and good luck to you man

yea even when i got my 60' down to 2.4 my 1/4 was still 15.4.. not much of a difference.. im just po'd that i wasnt even near the times i was lookin to get.. a 15.5 on the 1st launch ever in that car would be fine.. but 2nd and 3rd run to? come on..

some things that could help...

1. drag wheels and slicks
2. lsd
3. better suspension (if u don't have a good set up already)
4. better driver (assuming there is always more room for improvement)

Work on your launch. Don't drop the clutch out of the hole-- feather it out, and you'll get traction... remember, you aren't driving a damn dragster; you still drive a Honda. Don't "power-shift".. you want smooth shifts. Another thing you might want to work on is your burnouts. If there is a waterbox, try to avoid it. If you have to go through it, pass through it and do your burnout until it grips.. then mosey on up to the line.

The first time I had ever been to the track was with my LS-T EJ8. I learned quick especially with the way that thing ripped the tires off at low RPMs to take it easy and not dump the clutch, etc.

Practice makes perfect.

And really, you should get everything working right before you beat your car like this . Once you get all the bugs worked out, take it back to the track and see how you do.

Huh? Either the belt is on or off there is no in between. Also how do you know the spark is weak? No need to make excuses, your 60ft's need work and you need to fix the known problems with the car and go to the track with a decent set of tires and work on your launch.

timing belt fits loose because of the worn out spring on the tensioner.. so there is.. and the spark is weak because of some gay *** plugs.. and worn wires.. no excuses just truth.

as far as the excursion thing.. why in the hell would u run a 5000lb truck.. sorry for how much gas that thing eats

i guess he ran it because its quick, 14.3 is a respectable time for any daily driver, expecially a huge *** truck. hey i'd really fix that timing belt issue you have, if the belt is loose and your ripping on your car at the track i'd say your crazy, what do you do when it skips teeth and throws your motor way outta time, or better yet, skips, rips a couple ribs off, falls off and your pistons hit your valves at 8000 rpms. if my belt was loose i would'nt drive my car unless it was to limp it too the shop to fix it

all things mentioned above could be factors but you dont have any power. 92MPH is weak for a GSR in a hatch (unless its an SI hatch). plain and simple you dont have power. sure you could lower your 60s and that always helps but you should trap higher than that period. i say at least 95.
my B16 coupe ran 72MPH at the 1/8 mile marker, you only trapped 73.
i also think your shooting for the moon on your times. even though its a hatch and its got a GSR in it and with vin deisel or god behind the wheel your expecting too much. you dont just run mid 14s out of the box generally speaking.

so if your timing belt is loose, you have worn spark plug wires, shitty spark plugs and shitty bald tires, then why did u go to the track? i think first u need to fix your problems and then go back to the track.

no timing belt issues, i just had to tighten it up alittle more.. the spring on the tensioner is worn out.. so i had to get something in there to lift while i tightened..

yes i did fail to mention those.. the 440 cc's were because its all i had at the time.. and the hondata p28 was tuned w/ the 440's.. so when i put the stock p72 in.. it was all jacked up. and firing all wierd. i didnt think that they would make THAT much of a differnce 1 1/2 seconds is a BIG difference.. and i had some good tires this time..
