2006 MotoGP USGP at Mazda Laguna Seca Racway July 21 - 23 in Monterey, CA
Ok folks, we need to start talking about this race. I am making tentative plans to go.
For the ballers, here we have a pair of suite tickets at the start finish line for $2800 (bidding is not active but i am sure you can contact them) http://cgi.ebay.com/2-Trophy-S...wItem EDIT THESE ARE NOT MY TICKETS just showing whats out there.
I am curious if people have tickets already, and what their plans are. As a low cost option, I could see spending the weekend there camping since the weather is going to be nice and the traffic is going to be INSANE. Maybe riding in on motorcycle with a small tent / sleeping bag strapped to the back. Or taking a car / hotel deal etc... what are your plans?
You know you wanna go....

close to none....most places are already booked
I'll should be there on sunday, maybe saturday also. I'll be riding there both days from SF. Have my tickets and paddock passes ready (might sell the paddock passes if they go crazy again on ebay
)

This was so awesome last year! I don't know if I'm gonna make it this year though. Preferred parking and the paddock passes are sold out...they were sold out the 2nd or 3rd day
Still have the hotel reserved though, $60 a night, you can't F'ing beat that sh*t

You should put that hotel reservation on ebay or a motorcycle forum a couple weeks before the race. I bet you could easily triple your money.

I think that's what will probably happen, although I'm kinda hoping we'll be able to score some tickets/paddock/parking passes for a good price and still make it to the race.

It's not really worth it; we got a hotel the night of the first day for $80/night for a 2 beds about 10-15 outside the track.
If you are planning on going, DO NOT try to go to the track in a car; its useless. We were in traffic for maybe 4+ hours which kinda worked out since I was sleeping off a hangover in the back. People on bikes were just riding in between and probably saving a few hours.
Paddock passes were not as cool as people thought they would be as they were blocked out of the pit area for the most part.

I would say if you're gonna take a car that you have to get there around 7ish. I didn't have much trouble with traffic in the morning because I went early. At night when its time to go just have something to do while the traffic clears out.
This year we rented a RV so it should be smooth sailing. I figure we can have an impromptu HT get together at our RV for those who wanna partake. Only thing I am worried about is not being able to grill out because of the fire hazard. If that's the case we can still cook stuff in the RV though.

It was awsome seeing you there last year. I'm planning on going this year for camping out and will probably get James (Nims) to make the trip with me. I'm thinking 50's will be the mode of transportation this year. I also plan on kicking Frac in the ***** so his sense for seeing the color yellow comes back to him.

I really wanna go but I gotta see what the financial sitch is like. I have tons of friends and family in Mountainview about 20 mins out of SF so I'll probably be staying there and just riding to Laguna Seca.
Would wherever you park the RV be a good place to camp, or is there better camping for non-RV closer to the track?
If there's no parking at the track, where do people park? I can sleep in the bed my Yukon w/the rear seats folded town.
I'll be there all week! I'm from LA area but will be staying at a hotel or with my sister about 45 min. away. Taking the bike back and forth from her pad to the track and trailering them up from LA.

The RV camping area is the Archery camp and its about a half mile from the track. I didn't check it out last year so I don't know if its the ideal camp ground.

There was more than enough parking at the track last year so I don't foresee that being a problem unless they sell a lot more tickets this year, which I don't think they will (it was sold out last year). The parking areas that are a little further away from the track have shuttle buses, and there is parking in Monterey with shuttle buses too.
