like the bonehead i am, i haven't so much as taken the cover off of the car for nearly 6 months. it's not like i really had anything to work on though, just rebuilding a 155k mile transmission and replacing a differential, no biggie right?
the season is fast approaching for most of us, and for some it's already here. i think i had good reasons for not touching anything over the winter, but who else hasn't done a gosh darn thing, and what's your excuse?
.....the silly season is almost over, thank god.

Didja at least put antifreeze in before putting the cover on?
I've got excuses a-plenty, but my car is in reasonably good shape. No tranny rebuilds planned. As soon as it comes back from King, I do need to paint the cage, get the dash back in and reinstall a couple of gauges, get a fire system, add some stickers...

I still have September gas in it from NY. No fuel stabilizer, I don't believe in it.
My car has an automatic-oil-fog feature, so I didn't bother with that either.
Plus it gets started/ran periodically anyway.
I've still got plates on it, I was thinking about going for a sunday drive in March when it warms up a bit.
That does remind me, I have a bunch of spares to order... brake pads, rotors, distributor, etc..

I need to swap out a few bushings and weld up some new shock tophats, but I've got a good excuse.
I'm a gimpy bastard with a temporarily non-functional left thumb. I sooooooo want to mess around in the garage, but I can't hold a glass of water in my left hand. I HATE that sh*t. Ehhh, here's to spring and warm weather.

i've reached garage burnout levels in the 50 degree california winter.
at that point where i don't know what big impossible job i want to tackle next, so i've decided to procrastinate on tackling anything.
once i get the sled moved onto it's permanent home on jackstands in my OWN garage, i think there'll be more work done...

I'm tired of working and want to race! I dont think I stopped over the winter. New paint, rebuilt tranny, added to cage, custom brake lines, bushings.... Now i'm having withdrawls!
Guilty as charged..until this past week. My car has been a track car in the making for 3 years now.
Year 1-Bought the car...six months later...bought b16 eng/trans from a friend that totalled his civic. End of year one...FINALLY got everything in the car and made the vehicle roadworthy...somewhat
Year 2-Bought some Hoosiers, and suspension stuff and went autocrossing. Had a great time.
Year 3-Broke the trans, cracked the windshield, hit a deer, got into a serious relationship, lost my job...
Winter 06-Got new trans and rebuilding old one...new suspension bushings...new springs for coilovers..new brakes all the way around....new hood, fenders etc(from the deer incident)... ordered Roll Bar on Friday from Kirk Racing (they are 15 minutes from my house)... Finally getting on the ball....after 3 years? So what got me moving?
Well, #1, track day at Barber Motorsports Park in April...#2, when you loose your job, you have lots of free time on your hands...at least for now..
Mixed in these years were various projects to feed my Volkswagen fetish(yes, I know I have a problem)..but I have been Dub free for almost a year now, just taking it one day at a time and have to stay away from VWVortex..
Wish me luck in finishing on time.

Well I've been procrastinating big time I've got too much to do , and very little in the way of motivation roght now. The car's been sitting on jackstands, with the motor 30 mintues tops from being ready to come out for about 3 weeks now. I've got to get a block out to the machine shop (better do that soon, or I'm looking at a 2-3 month wait, they get really busy in the spring). I've got a major flaring job to do on the car, but won't be able to do that till the new wheels are ready. Oh, and the 1st race is in about 1 1/2 months.
Guilty as charged but I feel better seeing I am not alone. My winter list didn't get crap done and with an event this weekend, now I have to haul *** to get the basics done. Well I did get new race rubber though.

I've barely touched my car since the ARRC. I hate it and it's driving me crazy as I feel like everyone else is working overtime on their cars to get even faster and leave me in the dust
. But other winter projects are taking precedent. My solution? More space and another car lift.
It's not like there's no time though since the CenDiv off season lasts for 7 freaking months. Yes, nothing from late September until early May. I need to move.

Guilty!
Just had no motivation to work on the car. Not knowing if you will have the money to race it is a big killer on the motivation side!

one car got new belts and just had its annual tech. Maybe I should bleed the brakes before racing it again? (oops..)
The other car took some damage inthe 25 hours, and its still in pieces. it's getting a new rear suspension, new springs, new front bodywork, complete running gear overhaul, etc. Work has been slow. Motivation is low.

Well, the Prelude hasn't been on a racetrack since July 2002. Lots of cage work done last August and it needs paint to finish. Some fluid changes and it would be ready to go. Hoped to make the NASA track day in March, but just finding a general lack of interest due to other priorities.

Well, you're 4 steps ahead of me. I sort of cleaned a 1' sq. area of the hood last week to remove tire worm trails. I like to build up slowly to the more important projects.

planning for a new job and relocating out of state pretty much took all the drive (ha ha) out of working on the car. And all I need to do is replace the CV boots and I'm ready to go.
I am always looking for stuff to do
I don't really have anything that I can do on my car right now so I am always helping friends, even if I have no idea how to do it I will help just to learn. I am tyring to find a civic Helms right now so I can try to rebuild a tranny just for the fun of it.

I haven't been procrastinating so much as suffering with a weird schedule. An event, a weekend free, an event, a weekend free, then a race. That makes things hectic, even when all I am doing is maintenance.
MazdaSpeed is always really good about shipping stuff quickly, but it still takes the better part of a week for stuff to come in, leaving me with a whopping week to do whatever is left.
Then there is that pesky "job" thing taking away the best work time. Then the darn weather trying to show us Georgia folks what it is like to live up north. Newsflash, if I lived up north I wouldn't be maintaining the car out of an OPEN FREAKING CARPORT IN FEBRUARY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That is all.
