I was just about to buy a Sparco Evo 2 seat since it fits me well (6'0" and 217 lbs) but I was thinking of also getting a Hans device, and I read this from another post
http://www.justracing.com/semi...p?t=5 and was struck by this statement: "A more common problem with the EVO 2 and many people is that the shoulder openings are too low, especially when used with a HANS "
So I did a search for racing seats and read through this for ideas:
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1372631
and saw a mention of the Recaro SPG Pro Racer - HANS seat, described here:
http://www.hmsmotorsport.com/s...-race

Only 2 problems, one it is rather expensive at $1399 and it is for waist-sizes 34 or less, and I have a 39" waist, and so it will not fit me.
Anyone know of any seats (new or old models) that avoid what that guy says about too low openings of the Evo 2 with a Hans but that fit guys that need an Evo 2? Hopefully anyone with a Hans device could comment on seat fit issues.

Racetech seats!
There viper competition seat is a great fit for me (around the same as you).
Unfortunately, and the reason I don't have one yet, is that the seat is very expensive.

They are supposed to be coming out with a XL HANS version IIRC.
Even though I have a 33" waist, I am using the XL version of the Pro Racer. I did this to accomodate the bigger drivers that race with me in enduros. I think that a couple of them have 38" waists. While the HANS seat is more comfortable, the Pro Racer works. It really depends on how much you like your seat reclined. I don't have any issues with the seat pushing my head forward. Neither did the other drivers from the 25 Hour.

Yeah the Evo2 /EvoL seats have the harness holes too low. Even without the HANS they are a bit too low. I took the bottom pad out and it's sorta close.
I don't mind TOO much, if I compress only an inch in an accident I should be OK.

Do you have to wear one of those sumo suits - you know, the ones used for amusement during some basketball halftime shows?

Funny man, Mac-ster!
The seat is sooo deep that it still feels really snug. The Corsa that we had in 2004 felt down right sloppy compared to the Pro Racer - even in XL.
I have tried a lot of seats. Recaro is the way to go in both fit, safety & quality construction.

Johnny, that really broke me up, but it is a little OT. I think a Michelin Man suit would be more in keeping with the program.
While the Recaro Hans is not available in XL, does anyone have experience with the Recaro Profi SPG XL since it lists for $899 while the Recaro Pro Racer is a little pricey at $1499? A Hans will cost me around $895, a new SA2005 helmet around $470 (Bell M3) so I would definitely like to keep the seat under $1000. I will not be upgrading my little black Nomex booties, even though they are now like slicks.

Mac Man is just playing. It is like when we make fun of his milky white smooth as glass legs

I run a Profi SPG XL in my Targa car. I wear a Hans L 30 and I found it very comfortable. I am 6'4". I drove in that seat from Boston to Newfoundland and did a 2200km rally and drove back home and it was very comfortable all the way. Keep in mind that it is a BIG seat and very wide at the base.

It really depends on how your are proportioned. I'm 6', 185, 37-38" waist and I fit just fine in the Recaro HANS seat. It's about as snug as I can go but it was extremely comfortable doing the 25 Hour in (2004). I find the most significant dimension is your actual hip bone width not your waist.
