Smoke coming out from the engine bay!!! help
hi guys, i just performed an oil change today and i accidently spilled some motor oil on the engine and other hoses. i wiped off some of them but some are hard to clean so i left them alone. so after i done with it, i drove off and went home, while i was on my way, i noticed smoke coming out from the engine bay, as well from the exhaust. So my question is, would it do any harm to my car and how can i fix this. thankx
A spray can of brake clean will help get rid of the extra oil, but by the time you drive to the parts store and back home the oil will have mostly burned off; be sure the oil filter isn't spraying oil on the exhaust pipe, double gasket will do that.
Either wash off the engine with some engine cleaner, or just watch it (with a fire extinguisher handy). Eventually, it will 'burn off' by itself. The 'down side'? the mess.

i had driven 4 hrs after i spilled the oil, i think its already burned off, hopefully it didnt cost any damage, but i can still smell the burnt oil from engine bay.
