Alarm for no reason?
Hi all,
This may seem hopelessly ignorant, so please bear with me.
I have a 2002 Accord LE with apprx. 75,000 miles that I bought from a used car dealer a few months ago. I was never told that the car had a security system, nor did I ever want one, but I found out this morning that it seems to have one. We left the cozy, little coffee shop, I unlocked the passenger door, let my wife in (Awww), got into the driver's seat, put the ignition key in the ignition and turned it to start the car, which activated this alarm I never knew I had. Nice Sunday morning surprise.
I've had this car for about 6 months and about 6,000 miles and have never encountered this before. I don't recall doing anything differently regarding the starting procedure. Sorry this is so vague, but there really didn't seem to be anything that would cause this to happen. I hope this is enough information to ellicit some help regarding what may have caused the alarm to go off (on?). I'd like to be assured that this won't happen again.
Thanks,
Paul

Your Dealer should have supplied you with the owners manual and the keyless/alarm remote control at the time of sale.
I've always gone to unlocking the driver's door to disable an errant alarm system

Thanks for the reply, p. I do have the manual, and I do understand, and highly support, RTFM, so I was able to shut it off by unlocking the driver's side door from the outside. I guess I was hoping someone could help me with a cogent reason for the alarm's activation; I was wondering if someone knew if I had some type of situation with it or not.
I wish I could provide more details, and I realize things happen for a reason, but that just underscores how aberrant this was. I really don't recall doing anything out of the ordinary. As lame as this may sound, I just got in, inserted teh key and turned it, and the sucker started blaring at me.
Thanks again.
