Power Steering causes idle drop to 500 RPM
when i turn my steering wheel at a stop or doing a slow left or right turn, the rpm drop from like 800 to 500-400 RPM until i stop steering? anyone know how to fix this or what could cause this problem? thx in advance
I believe there is a power steering pressure sensor somewhere.........not sure though. Could possibly be the cause.
Maybe your resevoir is clogged with something - and its acting as a resistant.

Keep in mind your motor WILL slow down a bit when turning because you are putting it under load via the power steering pulley/pump. If you turn it all the way and turn hard, it should slow down even more.
I wouldn't worry about it unless it's excessive.

Hate to bump it but I'm having the exact same problem, only slightly worse maybe. My engine won't just drop down in RPMs it will actually die. If I am dead stopped parked with the engine running and I turn my steering wheel to the left for example, boom engine stalls.
Bump for an answer on if the PS pressure sensor (?) fixed it and/or if the fluid mattered?
I can't find the power steering sensor on my 5th gen exactly... part number anyone?
