ok so my fifth gear keeps poping out on my 2000 b18b engine..the tranny is an RS tranny..same year
and 5th gear just wont stay in unless i keep it in there by me pushing on it in the car..but its still pops out at times..

do i need a new tranny? or is this fixable some how?

I had this happen in my old 90 integra. A bolt was missing that connected the transmission to the engine, this might be the cause.

 

That was happening to me, then a day later it locked up in first,
I had a hole in my bellhousing from an ear busting off the throwout bearing.

So pretty much, I was doing pretty bad on fluid, and it just seized, but was popping at of 5th first.
Is it harder to shift into gears then normal?

 

ur low on tranny fluid. happened in my old gsr...it had a leak and i knew it was low wen 5th started poppin out.

 

jease thank god i hope im only low on fluid...i though i filled it up right..anyway...ill check that out today..and no the gears arent hard to get in..

 

I had the same problem in my old nova, turned out to be the linkage.

 

its most likely low fluid like someone else already said but i had the same prob and it was cuz the sleeve from 5th to reverse was fu*ked all up. all my syncros were good but the sleeve have a nice bure . so if filling the tranny doesnt work get ready to pull it apart. GL
