Default Mini Me Problems

Ive already searched for this and ive come to a conclusion, just need some reassurance. Me and my fiancee got our 92 hatch with a mini me swap going and raced at the track this past friday, its specifically a 1.5b7 bottom with a 1.6z6 head, everything is setup correctly, it runs fine. Our best time was a 16.8 at 80mph, we are still using the DX tranny though, i know i know. We just wanted to make sure its the tranny thats really hurting our time, were lookin for a ex/si tranny locally so that should get the car running good after that am i correct? Thanx

thats what we were told, i hear most mini me swaps run low 16s to high 15s which is what im guessing we should be running. I guess our tranny is good for like high speed and what not which explains the 80mph trap speed, our 60ft was a 2.4 i think without spinning tires, weak...i know. It feels fast as far as our 1st gear pull than 2nd just drags...as does 3rd gear, we finish the 1/4 almost finishin 3rd so yah.

it also depends on wich head you use the y8 head has a bit higher compression then the z6 but the z6 gets better flow threw the intake side of head i believe
i would go with the y8 manifold also
but a differen trany would be nice

yah we got the z6 head off one of our friends, were gonna be lookin for the z6 intake manifold and bottome end and crank down the road, for now the mini me is fine once we get our ex/si tranny. The vtec feels nice, just them long gears are killing us. I read a lot of people have problems with their mini me like smoking, and stuff- why is that? ours turned on right the first time, only problem was a oil leak but got that fixed, than it threw like 2 codes, but it was just bad wiring. Anyways our compression is 220 all across so that seems good. laterz

oh heres a pic of our hatch, its mine and my fiancee's lil project mostly her car though. Other than the mini me we have coilovers, ls meshies, and pink primer...yah shes gonna paint it pink by springbreak, kind of the yashio factory color. Dont worry wont be another slow pink thing, our goals are to be turbod and fully built z6 later on. Anyways here she is the way it is now

Yeah...and I was like "why is my car still slow?" It was funny, because as soon as I got the oil jet out the car actually felt like it was pulling in 1st and 2nd gear (high 15 sec car, but it felt quick for what it was).

Car is gonna feel like an absolute ROCKET when you first put that kit on. It feels like nothing to me right now, but I remember when I first put it on that thing felt like the fastest car in the world.

it has to be the oil jet, because my stock y7 ran a 16.9, just waiting on my y8 intake manifold and then gonna run it again with the z6 head

efnewb91- the mini me is a nice lil cheap way to go man, we got the head for 100 and the ecu for 100. I hear they run a high 15 with the right transmission and i really recomend that now. As we have it set now with the dx tranny 1st gear pull is nice, im pretty sure vtec is working properly. but yah were going d16z6 later on

Bauley- what do you mean we didn't pull the oil jet?

97spooncivic- yeah man turbo will be in the works soon, were just gonna throw together some parts, probably run a 14b from a dsm and what not

props_honda- are you still using your dx tranny man? our best time with the dx tranny is a 16.8 so yah. any help from you guys would be greatly appreciated. thanx

with a ex tranny you'd probably pull in the mid 15....with a si hatch or delsol tranny, you'll be in the low 15....when i had a mini me swap on my 90hatch si, i ran 15 flats all day at the track, but when i switched to an ex tranny, my car slowed too a 15.4 and 15.6 range....but it will be a whole lot different with any of those trannies....

I'm confused then man. I ran 15.9@86 w/ a 2.26 60ft and these mods:

1993 Honda Civic LX Sedan (Weighed in at 2320 lbs without driver)
D15B7 Block and Tranny
D16Z6 Head / Intake Manifold / Exhaust Manifold
Full Interior with Spare Tire, Tools
Short Ram Intake w/ removed headlight
Welded-on straight through eBay muffler
Stock Cat/Exhaust Piping
Original Clutch w/ 160,000 miles
No PS belt
175/50/13 All-Season tires on 13" VX Wheels @ 23psi

So...I dunno mang

yah once the tranny is there, we will look for a z6 intake manifold, and probably wont bother lookin for the xhaust manifold since were gonna modify a HF manifold for our turbo, dont know if we should turbo the mini me or not, i think 6psi wont hurt it. but yah man its mostly my chicks car- thus the pinkness lol. We got it from some guys for 600 bux runnin all it needed was a new tranny and weve been modding it with the help of our friends ever since. and thanx for being so kind lol i hear about people gettin chewed up on this site
