I have a 89 Accord LXI coupe that has a rod knock and I have acces to a 86 accord 4dr LXI with a good motor and I'm not sure if the motors will interchange? From what I understand the 87-89 LXI's have a ( A20A3 ) motor and the 86 is by itself with the motor series being ( BT ). Can any one inlighten me if I can only use a ( A20A3 ) or if the ( BT ) motor will work in its place?

 

It will work. They just have slightly different compression ratios.
