Default unknownly fast del sol

So I just bought this del sol and its got a single overhead vtec motor in it. it once had a gsr but it swapped out instead, anyway i never really got on the throttle untill today and it actually scared me, not like it was too fast or anything but it was not what i was expecting, in 1st it actually broke the tires loose from acceleration, not from popping the clutch or anything like that just from the tourqe and then from 1st to 2nd it was very in your seat type thing. I dont know my girlfriend had a civic with the d16y8 and it seemed like a dog this is the d16z6 and it feels incredibly fast. it has a drop in k&n filter and a header back exhaust i dont know what else its got inside the motor it just doesnt feel right. any thoughts

Sounds to me like you've been riding in some incredibly slow cars up until now if a del slow is considered fast.

your butt dyno is broken or miscalibrated.

ride in a real fast car then try again.

psh, don't hate on him, he's got a great car and motor in that z6. I on the other hand own and have driven many faster cars than my Sol with the same motor, but it is still a quick little car. It's definately a blast to drive on windy roads

i drive fast cars for my job. I work at a tuning shop, mostly chevelles and camaros and such but this del sol felt faster than it should have gone. my butt dyno is fine but this motor feels like its been built, its so responsive feels like a b series. (which ive owned, ive also owned an evo and a tt z) maybe its because my last car was a crx hf that was completley stock. i dont know it just feels fast for a del sol with a sohc vtec

hey i love my del sol! dont get me wrong but the sohc just wasnt doing it for me. thats why i upgraded to jdm gsr. now i really love it and who says it slow??!? i beat rsx type-s 02 to the new and any gsr integ with my mods. plus how many integs and civic coupes and hatches do you see? a billion theres not many sols out there that are hooked up. hey if you think your del sol is fast more power to you. remember its your car f&*k what others think. IMO

Must be one moster of a single cam, specially in the feather-weight chassis the sol is.

i dont think im going to put gobs of money in it but the guys at my shop are pushing me to put a k20 in it, since there is a smog bay i was thinking about the new ctr motor and just leaving it stock, or maybe to save some cash and effort a gsr, or maybe as a toy for autox a turbo and some low comp pistons for this little beast. i dont know why does it seem that everyone says the del sol is slow, isnt it lighter than the hatches? just a question i dont know anything about them yet it just seems since there predecessor was the crx that it should carry on the light weight tradition. i thought without gas in them they are like 2400 pounds.
I dont know what im going to do, i just know its a driver as it is, its very fun to drive and when i sit in it it feels sort of like a sports car.

as far as i know in weight its crx, hatch, 2dr's, del sol/4dr? going from lightest for heaviest but im probably wrong, but yeah del sols aren't the lightest, have a friend with a sohc turbo del sol that hasn't gotten tuned or ran at the local track yet though, seems like they make fun cars.
