Default What is your view/opinion on Ksport Coilovers?

Hi. I would appreciate any responces on this matter.

Im looking at Ksport coilovers for my Daily Driven CRX, which will occasionaly see some track/autoX time, but most likely not often.

Before you say koni yellow + GC's, don't worry that is my planned setup for my 2nd Track only CRX.

The deal for the Kports is about 620$ shipped, which imo is a great deal, gives me the height adjustibility i'd need for the winter driving (north east), and nice stance for the summer.

I heard they are very similiar to omni's construction wise and performance wise.

What do you guys think?

No experience with the Honda coilovers, but my buddy has them on his 99 Accent. They feel a little underdamped for the spring rates and are no fun on the street due to the pillow mounts, but they're better than stock. They've started to get some surface rust on the top of the strut where the adjustments are made though. You be better off with Koni's and drop springs imo.

I bought a set for my 96 GSX. They look good if you are after that but the shocks are horrible. The adjustments dont do much and are very bad on rebound. Took them off the car after 1 week of use. in that week the locking collars kept loosening themselves.

They are totally underdamped. Provides a pretty bouncy ride at the track, and not so great on the street. We got them for my brothers car, but would not buy again.

ground controls are also height adjustable. You can adjust the ride height via the perch.

check the website in my sig, and give GC a call to order them.

make sure you tell them you are running Koni's

i agree with alot of the statements on here. They are underdampened, the shock adjustment sucks ***, the adjustments don't seem to make a difference. I haven't had trouble with rust. They were alright on the track.

Another thing is that on my car the rates are extremely high off the shelf.

Any way to make the koni yellow/GC setup into a height adjustible coilover?

I keep hearing about sleeves, like skunk2, or other brands put onto other shock/spring combos?

The GC sleeves replace the lower spring perch, to allow height adjustment.

sorry missed it the first time

how much height adjustibility will there be? about 1/2 inches from the preset heigh which is determined by the spring?

like i said this is an all year around DD in the northeast with our winters, and i dont want to destroy the freshly painted bumper of the password lip

so sorry for being so repeditive about it

lets see koni yellows about 400, GC' i'd say like 250? and the new sleeves will run me about 200 as well?

The set with springs and sleves is $299 for most Civics and Integras. They come complete. You will be able to adjust ride height from about stock to about a 2 1/2in drop. You need nothing else except a set of Konis.

with my crx i could either jack it way up (well above stock) or drop it to the ground...you can put the clip on three seperate perches to adjust it by like 1/2" or 1" increments (cant remember how much space seperates them) and then the sleeve is about 4" long threaded the whole way, so yeah, quite a bit of height adjustability there

try redshiftmotorsports.com. seemed to have the best price for the set and you can pick you're own rates. the guy (chris i believe) was really good to work with and even helped suggest what rates to get.

I use to own a intergra (a 95 LS) with these K-sports on them.

They dampened okay, and performed decently at the auto-x. However, into 6 months of owning them, one of the sleeve sections on the coilover seized.

I could not get it to budge. I took the coilover off, and put anything anti-seize on it, and it wouldn't move.

This is just MY 2 cents.

Hey bro, I need your address again. I am going to send you a new setup to try out for your brothers car that I believe is going to work much better than the setup that you received from Ksport. I just been really busy lately, but hit me up and I will take care of you.

I believe some applications are underdamped. That is one of the many reasons why I try to stay away with the off the shelf stuff. But at the same time most of the people that do state that do not have any real experience to come to that conclusion and they sometimes exceed or slam the car to where they are just asking for a shitty ride. Also I have noticed that the people that do complain are the ones that don't go with our recommendations to properly revalve the shock or they choose their own spring rate which they THINK might work for them.

But most of the time they are guys that purchase coilovers from other dealers and slapping springs on the coilovers that they were never meant to be used with. Rather than listenin to us right off the bat, they end up purchasing different springs from us. Also you won't find a lot of my customers complain, and I have told many of my customers to send the springs back to us if we can help fix a problem without having to do a revalve or what not. Most of the time when I extend that offer they give me a call 2-3 months later when I clearly state to contact us within 1-2 weeks max after trying them out. But out of all the customers we have setup, I have had only 4 people call me back, but none of them requested a spring swap, they just purchased different set of springs. So our track record is pretty good, and we try out best to provide a good setup to each of our customers.

Anyways PRKILLER, hit me up, you are one of my first customers, and I promised you a good setup. So pm me.
