Default The Racing Superior?

Ok, I've asked quite a few people about which car, within a decent price range, is teh best out there for racing. And by decent price ranger i mean like RSX price. Some say the RSX sucks at racing and looks crappy, others say the opposite. Same witht he WRX, Celica, Eclipse, Tiburon, and a few others. Can somebody please tell me which car is at the top of the list for street racing?, any company make. or at least give an insight, and opinion? anybody?

WRX. I've driven the RSX-S before and I absolutly love the car, but if you really want to waste the average racer/ricer, then get the WRX. Stock turbo with 17 psi and AWD, can't get much better than that.

Jason-

If all else fails, just get a used RX7 TT.

nice, the WRX is sounding pretty sweet right now. Does the fact that it's 4 wheel drive have anything to do with how well it races? My friend keeps telling me its too heavy for street racing cause its all wheel drive.

Your friend is an imbecile.

The WRX is right around 3000 lbs. Not what I would call "light," but definitely not too heavy considering the car's already established capabilities.

The argument that AWD cars are automatically heavy is a fallacy. For example, Audi's Quattro system typically adds about 120 lbs. to the car's weight. That's about the difference between a full tank of petrol and an almost empty one. The performance benefits possible with a properly engineered AWD system more than make up for the increase in weight, especially if the alternative is FWD.

WRX all the way
AWD does help, MUCH better than a FWD
Calsonic GT-R, and some other top racing cars in Japan are AWD (No FWD whatsoever, lotsa RWD, MR)
i wish i had the money for a WRX

WRX owns all those other cars you listed. For the price, it's straight line performance you can't beat.

I'm not saying I'm faster than the WRX or anything, because I'm not,
BUT, talk to someone who's owned both...they should tell you the R will outhandle
the WRX all day long.
O.K. maybe not in snow, or pouring rain, and not from a dead stop, but playing in the twisties, give me the R, I don't want to throw 3K lbs around all day.

You can make any car fast. But starting with a killer chasis...that's what I'm talking about.

That's easy... Either a Ford 5.0l Fox-body Mustang or a GM LS1-powered F-body car. Cheap and Fast. Either can be prepped to run 11s for $3000-$5000 in mods.
