Default d series broken shift fork

Hey my roommate apparently broke his shift fork again in his 93 Del Sol. He's had the car like 4 years and never had a problem. 3 months ago he broke the 1st 2nd fork and we used my old CRX tranny and stole the part from. Well two days ago somebody pissed him off so he slammed first smoked some tires slammed second and then kept going. 5 minutes later it wouldn't shift right again just like before. The weird thing is if it shifts he's have all 5 gears but no reverse, if he gets it in reverse 1-5 won't go. Anyway is it possible to replace the aluminum 1-2 fork with a 96+ steel one. What mods would be needed to do this, if it requires replacing them all then forget that.
