DIY/How-To write up, should I do it?
I will be replacing my piston rings tomorrow and I was thinking of doing a How-To on it. I just wanted to see some input on it.
I know that there are a lot of people on here with oil burning D-series engines that would like to re-ring the beast but are too afraid to do so becasue of the lack of knolwedge.
I can do show you guys everything from gapping the rings to honing the cylinders to properly seating the head gasket.

I will be doing this IN CAR for ease of the work load and I can have it done within about 3 1/2 to 4 hours. If I do the DIY it will take much longer due to cleanup and picture taking but I have all weekend to finish the project, so no big hurry.

Please do this!! You will be thanked forever. I would cover it all, including honing, gaping, any of the steps you do will be used by alot of people.

I would love to see a write up, personally i dont belive i have ever seen a write up on here for that, i know someone did one for a head gasket so to remove the top of the motor but the bottom i dono, i say do it
first off i know a little bit about this b/c i did it to my d15b7 and it was a bitch b/c a accidently switched my rod caps. so fist off make shre you have every thing marked/in the right position when you put it back togher or when you torque your caps it wont budge. also when putting the head back on make shute there is no coolant in the head bolt holes b/c you cant compress liquid and your head will leak coolant into the cylandrs or you could crack your block. id suggest to take my advice and be carefull and check everything/ make shure it in the correct spot when istalling from when taking apart. i just got it back togher and it took allot longer than i thought so be carefull...... i cant stress this enough. hope my info helped everyone and possibly i make a write up when im not working/ partyin so look in the next few days.

The man has a billion posts compared to me, but that is not the point. He is helping generate advice and/or resources for a man doing an insane mid-engine build in an integra
. He is doing (or has already done) a mid-engine swap of his own... Yes, he knows what he is doing lol...

Hey, I think it would be really great if you did a DIY. I am beginning my turbo build and I will be attacking the rings soon along with other things. I look forward to viewing your write up.

well guys, I have some bad news.....I started to do the write up and shortly after I had the head off of the engine (about 10 minutes after I started) I found that one of my pistons was melted. So I will not be able to do the write up you guys were hoping for (as was I).
for the n0ob's that are trying to give me advice, please don't waste your time. I build engines and race cars for a LIVING. I definately do not need advice on how to properly inspect, disassemble and assemble a Honda engine. I am a walking Honda manual....just ask anybody that has asked me for specifications/clearances

hey man, guess what I just put in a 1968 Mustang. I just installed a 429 Boss engine with Offenhauser heads. The engine alone is worth about $90k
(for those who don't know who or what Offenhauser is, they used to make Formula 1 engines back in teh early 90's when the F1 cars went so fast that the drivers were blacking out.)

here is a Offenhauser engine from 1940

here is an engine VERY similar to what I just installed

here is what made the BOSS engine so famous......it is essentialy a Ford Hemi engine....

Well maybe next time..or an even more extensive rebuild in detail. Thanks anywayz..</TD></TR></TABLE>
I am not owning anybody....I am not that rash or immature. I am just stating that advice is not needed due to the fact that I do this for a living.
I will be doing a write up in teh future on how to build and properly inspect for a high performance Honda build or maybe even how to completely rebuild and strengthen a H22 transmission. Maybe even add a Quaife install on top of it.

yes indeed, I live in SC where our winters are so mild that a sweat can often be broken during mid day. I love living in the south.

pffft, it is like 76 here in Charleston today......
I actually like the cold and I absolutely love the 100 degree summer days......there is nothing like taking a ride down to the beach on one of my Uncle Roberts Harley Davidsons. The sun shining down, the wind blowing and the rumble of a S&S V-twin with chopped pipes.
I wish summer would get here faster.

2 degrees, daaAAAMMMmmnnn. No flip flops for joo...
On a serious note though, that does kind of suck, I lived in Michigan for a long while and I know first hand what weather like that can do to a ride. Hang in there man.

Actually I have a commitment to my brother for spring break to go have some fun in Cocoa Beach, BUT I am definately willing to drive down one of these weekends so I can take a gander at that mid-sol monster of yours. Damn I bet that is fun to drive... The tour sounds great, I am sure I could geek my way around. Didn't you just get in a truck wreck though, I think I saw the pics, you okay?

the mid engine Sol is actually someone elses.....I opted to not get into that situation due to drivability issues. The Sol was actually built by a friend of mine by the name of Cody Love (screen name is Tinker219)
I, however, have other projects under way that are pretty cool.
