Stereo Install SPeaker Problems: HELP
I installed a deck today and used the plug which goes into the accessory box behind the dash. the speakers worked with my old deck, i then bought an alpine deck and wired it up all wires meet it has power, turn on, dim...etc but no sound out of any speakers??? an idea what the problem is?? both fuses are good....i did blow a fuse originally but replaced it, but could all speakers be blown and not get power{very unlikeyly} any ideas
Need some info......
1- Year and model of car.
2- Model of Alpine HU, and was it a new unit?
3- When you say you, "used the plug which goes into the accessory box behind the dash" do you mean that you used an adapter harness, ["the plug"] that plugs into the oem radio harness plug, ["accessory box"] that normally plugs directly into the oem radio? If not please explain.
4- Do you have a multimeter or access to one?
And yes, it is very unlikely that all the speakers are blown to the point, [open VC] that you would not hear anything, but if even one of them is shorted out or any of the speaker leads has a short the Alpine HU protection circuits will turn off the internal amp to protect it.

whats a multimeter? lol</TD></TR></TABLE> A multimeter is a piece of test equipment used to test for a number of things, you would us the DC volts and the continuity and impedance testing, and if you are going to do electrical work on your car you should have one, you can get one from Radio Shack for under $20 like this one...
http://www.radioshack.com/prod...earch it will pay for itself in no time.
Have you rechecked the fuses?
The 7.5A constant power fuse in under hood fuse box, [fuse 47]
The 10A acc. power fuse in under dash fuse box, [fuse 28]
The 10A Alpine HU main fuse, on back of HU next to harness plug.
You will notice that the Alpine HUs main fuse is a 10A, it is the HUs yellow wire, [constant power] and it is connected, [if using an adapter harness] to the oem radio harness constant power, fused by the 7.5A fuse in the under hood fuse box, it was only for memory on the oem HU, it is also supplies memory power for the "Powertrain Control Module", if blown do not replace with bigger fuse.
Instead of connecting the Alpines constant power, [yellow] to the yellow of the adapter harness, run it to the under dash fuse box anp plug it into the constant power free pin.
