Default steering slop

So I'm trying to get rid of all the slop in the steering on my car. I recently installed the quaife rack. There's about an inch (on the wheel) of slop that I want to eliminate, I believe that most of the slop is coming from one of the universal joints- the joint that attatches to the pinion. Has anyone tried replacing this joint with something better? Is there anything out there? When i look at the joint and pinion as im turning the wheel it looks like the pinion is not moving at all but the joint is.

ive read that just tightening that bolt does wonders. try that before considering replacing it completely.

did you adjust that gearbox? i tried loosening the lock nut before i shipped it out, but couldnt while it was off the car.
