GForce has a multi-layer suit that is a pretty good deal/price. Are a couple other budget brands that are starting to have similar offerings (can't remember who specifically).

Cruipier Motorsports has a pretty killer deal on a whole package, includes a Sparco Fashion 5. Hard to beat, I think it is like $750 includes the suit, neck brace, balaclava, gloves, shoes, socks.

If they have your size in the color you like, this is the best deal going right now. This suit is very comfortable.

After looking at a bunch, trying on a lot. I ended up being entirely satisfied with my Sparco Tech-5. I wouldn't go for a cheaper suit. They just aren't comfortable.

Ive got a question about the sizing....

With all my measurements, I appear to be in between a size 56 and 58. No I know I should most likely choose the larger size, but even with the 58 the weight it claims for that size is 30 lbs too light. Should I just ignore the weight row and focus more on just measurements.

My measurements are about

Height: 72"
Waist: 36-38
Chest:42
Hips:42
Weight: 220

My first suit was the cheapest that I could find at the time. Within a year I was back in the market for another, more expensive, one.... at which point I realized I hadn't really saved much of anything!

in my personal opinion, i think the $400 range suits from Sparco/OMP whomever are the best deals. they're nice suits that will keep you happy and safe without being cheaply made or too expensive to purchase.

I was over at http://www.crowenterprizes.com yesterday for some webbing. Their quilted 2-layer suit looked pretty good, for the money. About $230, I think.

i personally would not buy that suit because it doesn't have any "cuffs" on either the leg or the arm.

On a serious note... is this a serious concern?(if so, why? curious...) Or just another fashion note

Agreed. My Sparco has been serving me well since 2002.

BTW, your suit is not a place to skimp. The difference between a $400 Sparco and a $200 house brand suit from one of the driver gear warehouses is HUGE. The cheap ones are heavy, thick, and not all that well made. There may be exceptions out there, but I've never seen one.

I didn't look to see if there are banded legs under the cuffs. The stock car guys all like the cuffs 'cus it looks like their still wearing Wranglers. None of that candy-*** pin-legged, ballet shoe stuff for them...

Check out the G-Force 545.

It's AMAZING how light it is - even ignoring the price point.

http://www.saferacer.com/gf545rasu.html

When I was at Saferacer's warehouse/showroom a year ago, I was able to compare this G-Force to a MUCH more expensive Sparco (I forget which model, but it was north of $1,000) side by side. The feel of the two suits was amazing similar.

I have been doing a lot of research on suits and safety gear lately (and I'm only running HPDE's). I don't need to risk my life on my own accord or someone else's, so I figure I'll gear up on the safety side.

After doing a bunch of searching, I have found:

1. Nomex Underwear is generally needed for a 2 layer or less suit.

2. Buy BIG (countless people have said this)

3. The G-Force GF545 suit and the SParco 5 something are good values. Many people really like their GF545 suit and costs around $400

4. Don't forget nomex socks, balaclava, gloves, shoes (but you probably know that already)

Safety rules! Good luck w/ your purchase and let us know what you end up buying-

several of my friends have the GF-545 and IMO its as good as my MOMO which cost at least twice as much.

the only downside to the GF-545 is it only comes in S M L XL. If you aren't any of those its not going to fit well.

Most of the straight leg suits have nomex "cuffs" under the outer layer of nomex

By the way, much cheaper if you order from Demon Tweeks in the UK.

Well, after starting off in the communal loaner Simpson red "pajamas", I have suffered long enough and am going to get a Sparco Tech-5. (thanks to advice from my bro-in-law "JettaRacer" who currently has one and did a LOT of research before buyiung it) Beautiful suit, it probably weighs about the same as my current OMP driving shoes, one fifth of the 5 lbs of my current Simpson suit.

I consider every degree cooler I am in my suit, that much safer, especially during longer 45 minute or 1 hour stints. You just can't concentrate as well when your "boys" are so sweaty they are running down into your nomex socks! Sorry if that's an image you didn't really need.

Suffered long enough? What? You've only gone out for two races in that suit... besides you're car is bent! Priorities my man! Sigh...
