Default We need Hondata to 'step up to the plate'

Hondata, the great Honda ECU tweaking company is our beloved Southern California... how we love them but something has been picking at my mind for the past few months about the company and havent found anyone really having the same thought as me.

We have 3 options for K20's and Hondata, yes? A reflash, k100, or K-Pro (yes THE K-pro). Now this is all well and good for anyone having a 2002-2004 ECU, but where does this leave our 2005+ bretheren (dont stop and judge now, just keeping reading)...out in the cold unless they cough up a few more hundred dollars. Nobody likes spending more money than they have to.

I come from a Subaru world and they AWESOME program of ECUtek (just like a Hondata reflash) but with a far better twist. Hondata reflashes only support some existing mods and leave it to "black magic" after those mods have been completed, but what if we had it better?

ECUtek (much like Hondata) is a reflash, but is programmed at a performance shop. You drive your car in, reflash, custom dyno tune (or a pre-made map), and drive out. Local tuning companies simply have a contract with ECUtek, buy into the business software, and simply use ECUtek to tune for whatever mods a specific car has. It sounds easy enough, but why do we not have this for us from Hondata?

My point as it stands, will Hondata make EVERYONE's day a lot happier and offer something like this? or is this another "its never going to happen" Hondata response?

Rich

That is what the K100 is. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I know with the OBD1 stuff, you go in with the S100 and the shop tunes it, then you drive out with the tune.

Your thinking is FUBAR! They have a fully adjustable system in the K-pro and will have product for the newer cars soon. What point are your trying to make???

Reflash #4- quick way to gain a bit of HP w/ out needing to go get tuned or know how to tune it (gains magnified w/ CAI)

K100- order it, go to a place that can tune it, they tune to your mods and you drive out with your tune. (Exactly like you were talking about w/ ECUtek)

K-Pro- Can pretty much tune anything that is actually possible to be tuned on the K-series engine. Tuned by tuner or yourself on dyno or street tune. Throw almost any mod at it and I think K-Pro can handle it (turbo, S/C, nitrous, ITB's, cams, etc).

I think Hondata has it pretty much covered for the K-series.

As far as the 05-06 DC5 ECU it takes time to figure out how to chip/flash/K-Pro an ECU. They have provided a solution for the 05-06 owners as of now. Who knows, maybe they are still working on more. Either way props to Hondata for their good work with the K.

Drive by wire plagued the hondata area alot

and if you don't like the products offered, don't buy them

your comparing tuning for ecu's from boosted subarus, to N/A honda/acuras

thats like asking why a reflash for an 02 si costs 600 an gets u a few HP and 500more redline

and chip for an a4 is 200 and gets you 100hp and torque

apples and oranges

If it weren't for Hondata, what other choices would you have for the K-series? Instead of bagging on them, yell at other companies to come up with something.
