Default Vtec or non-Vtec

should i go lsvtec, b16 head, ge conversion kt, studs, with i/h/e. stock bottom end.
or.
ls motor with crower 403's, minor valvetrain upgrade, with i/im/h/e. and maybe also a p&p.

what do you think would produce more power?

thanks

Even with LS pistons. You will not be able to run the bigger cams or go very far with cam timing unless the valve reliefs are enlarged. It might be worthwhile to investigate the cost of installing GSR or ITR pistons while the motor is apart.

yea, i herd you can run 403's (stage 2) with ls pistons fine, but just to be safe upgrade the valvesprings.

well just swaping out some cams is alot simpler then changeing pistons. not to mention with itr or gsr pistons i would have to shave the rods.

The head has to come off for an LSVTEC, no? Changing pistons is more work, no doubt. It would be worth it, but it's up to each individual as to how far they want to go.

We talking VTEC or non-VTEC cams? Two completely different animals. I would not run Skunk Stage 2's on a stock LS bottom end, but that's just me.

wo wo wo, hold on...

ok when i said changing out the cams i was talking about puting crower 403's on my ls, not the ls vtec. yes i know how to do a vtec conversion i have been doing reaserch for a while now. I've serched and found some threads about 403 in a LS and it was fine on the bottom end as long as you stayed at or close to the stock redline. the only thing that was recomended was to upgrade valve springs, but thats just to be safe. you can run the 403's with stock.
so basicly my question is will i make more power with some 403's in my ls? or more in the lsvtec? if i stayed nonvtec i could probly afford a chipped ecu. and some more goodies.

I was just responding to this line of questioning. And I am partial to VTEC over non.
