hey guys i tried to register my car(ek shell) today under my name as a new owner and dmv cant find anything about the vin# or the plate number in their system..... they told me i have to tow my car down there for a verification of vehicle identification number by a peace officer, an authorized employee of the dmv or a licensed vehicle verifier...i even ran it though carfax and they have it... my question is this: what is the Possibility why they cant find it in their system? i kinda dont wanna tow it over to the dmv cuz first i have to pay $231 for tax and all those years that hasnt been registed>since 2001< what should i do?

i justed called the guy that sold me the shell he told me it might of dropped out the system after five years... do you think this is true?

 

It might be possible if it was a Salvage title. Need more background history.

your going to have to pay the back registration no matter what if at all so you might as well go down there

 

probably since it wasnt registered in so long it went out of their computer. if you can bring in a carfax and see what they have to say. worth a try. u can probably get a free one if u look in the classifieds.

You should be able to register it as non-op which is what the dumbass guy who had it sitting for so long should have done all this time!
