LS VTEC questions
im working on building an LS VTEC and i was wondering how this sounds:
-B18a1 block
-B16a1 head
-B16a1 pistons
-ARP head studs, main studs, and rod bolts
-stock LS crank and rods
-stock valvetrain for now other than springs
-DC header
-GSR oil and water pump, new OEM
how does this sound? should i get the rods shotpeened? how much would this help? another thing i wanted to ask is what is the safe rev limit for this motor? i want this to be a releable daily driver and last a while. and what ECU do i use and do i need it to get chipped and tuned? thanx a lot.

I would rev to 8000rpm since you have stock cams..And for the ecu if you want to stay obdo I would get a chipped pm6/pr4 ecu with turboedit 1 wire setup..Or go obd1 and get a chipped p28..Try and get the ecu tuned for that motor..Like a street tune or dyno tune or whatever..

You dont have to get it tuned..You can have them chip your ecu with a program from a similar setup,,but its best to get it tuned for your motor..And no you dont have to shotpeen the rods..Theres no reason to,,Ive seen stock ls rods handle 9000+ revs and 350+ hp..The arp rod bolts are good enough..
