Brake Upgrade: Type R VS GSR
I have a chance to upgrade my EK's brake system with either a Type R 5 bolt or GSR.
I can get front and rear GSR brakes(rotors, spindles, trailing arms, calipers, master cylinder and prop valve) for a about $550.
Or I puchase my brothers Type R brakes with Type R wheels without master cylinder and prop. valve for about $1300 ($800 brakes, $500 wheels). My question is are the Type R brakes worth the extra money from a performace perspective on a mainly street driven car with the occassional track day? I am also looking at becoming more involved in Solo 1 next year so are the larger Type R brakes better for the future or would a 4 piston Wilwood kit for example be better for the track. Also will the master cylinder and prop. valve from the GSR work with the Type R's brakes or will I need Type R components?
Your comments would be must appreciated.
