CaliSpeedway - Redline - March 4 & 5
Hi all,
Redline is holding an open track day at California Speedway this Saturday, March 4th, and a Time Attack on Sunday, March 5th. All are welcome to attend. For more info, please visit: http://redlinetrackevents.com/event_spdway.html
We'll have plenty of open track time, 2.5 to 3 hours on Saturday, and the same on Sunday. Instruction for beginners, and prizes for the Time Attack winners.
Hope to see you at the track!
Thanks,
Chris

Sounds great but I'm filming a car show in Phx. on the 3rd! Wink, wink......
Maybe the next time and I'll bring out my Nascar Mini Stock if I'm allowed to run it.

Well, it depends on how you like your tracks.
The infield course in not as exciting as a purpose built road course like the streets of willow or Buttonwillow, or even ThrunderHill. It doesn't have the elevation changes you'll find on a those road courses, but it does have a certain flair about it. The facility at Ca SpeedWay is one of the best in the state with large garages for everyone and the best track surface I've every driven on. It's sort of like a huge auto X course, with two fast sections and several lower speed turns. It's worth it if only for the chance to drive on a track you've never done before.

I've never driven the infield course before, only the Roval. Any reason why you guys aren't running the Roval?
The good thing about California Speedway is that it's the closest track to me. The bad think is that it's so darn expensive! I missed the boat on signining up for NASA's Cali event (roval!) so I might be interested in this .... hmmm decisions....

There are a couple of reasons why we're not running the Roval. First off, it's not really important for our event to have the Roval. It's great for people that like to dive at full speed for a while around the oval section, but it really don't do anything then give you an opportunity to go very fast. The Infield is were all the action is, and I think the front straight in the infield gives most people speed in excess of 120 mph, depending on what car you have. The other reasons are for safety, and cost. The cost of the event would be almost twice as much if we ran the Roval. I like to keep these events with in reach of most everyone, and the Roval is just to expensive to run.
I would recommend running the Roval at some point. It's fun, but it does tend to get a bit boring.
