Default rebuild ?

I am new with honda and I was wondering if any body could give me a estimated price range for rebuilding a d16 with a z6 head for a 88-91 crx. I would also like to turbo the engine if the rebuild was not too expensive. The internals dont need to be top of the line. I have been deciding on whether to do that or to swap in ls/vtec and then turbo that later and i know that would be much faster but its all on what the price is. Or is there any other options that would be better? thanks for the help

IF you look at prices on Pistons, rods, bearings, machine work, etc.

THey are all the same whether you get a B-series or D16. Internal parts are pretty much the same and will cost you the same amount which ever engine you go with. As far as parts being top of the line. I always suggest to my customers that when you get to this level of building an engine to withstand good power, there is only 1 choice and that is choosing the top of the line parts. You really cant go any lower than forged pistons and rods. anything lower than that are oem style pistons and cannot withstand the stress that aftermarket pistons and rods can.

My suggestion is: figure out your goals. estimate your budget for the build. and decide which route is better for you.

For example: if you are only planning to make 300hp on a turbo setup. There is no need to go b-series, since a D16 can push out that much power in a good setup.
You save the money too by not having to buy swap mounts, and block cores.

There's plenty of guys here that can help you. If you need help further information, feel free to email me and i'll be glad to guide you in choosing the right parts. check out our website too, to get an idea on pricing of build blocks and heads.

you can HMT it if you want. you can make like 200wheel on the d16 with stock engine. just upgraded fuel and timing. anyways a rebuild is gonna cost you from 500-1500 depending on who does the labor and how many MONSTER energy drinks you go thru when building a motor. anyways a HMT kit can b put together for around 1000$ or even less when u have hookups. so ur lookin at around 1500-2000 for about 200whp, on a new motor. it should be very reliable depending on how myuch tuning you have done and how much boost you run daily. try to stay away from 200whp cept when needed (racing or showin off to gurls ahah).

ok peace

and a mini me swap is usually 150-350 dependng on how ghetto u make ur setup

ghetto = rpm switch

non ghetto = obd1 conversion and a p28 (tuned would be better but untuned is fine for temporary use)

CRXs don't have back seats unless they're JDM.

Anyway, hit up junkyards and honda-tech part outs for that interior ****.

I'm also new to Honda's but have found useful information from redpepperracing for engine info. About the interior, ebay has been a useful tool...Found front bumper and side mount. Hope that helps...

Yes a supercharger will not have any lag since its drivin by a belt. I personally have a turbocharged d16a6 crx, stock motor with a td04 and its great! I've beaten many cars (type r, m3, vr6's, etc..) and i'm only running a basemap. Gather all your information and parts first then go from there. Read alot as well, homemadeturbo.com has alot of good info! Look at there turbo projects, very inspiring! GL
