I miss my days with the R
I dont know if any of you guys remember me, but I have been on this forum basically since I sold my R. I picked up the beauty from a friend of a fellow h-t member and had it shipped to Ca from NY. I really niss the car, and am heavily considering getting another one. I was a victim of theft, although it was by a kid who I thought was my friend, none the less, theft. I am worried about getting another one for this reason. I am going to be joining the military, and this would be my second car, and probably stored for 90% of the time.
If I decide to get one, I want to get some hpde's in with it, and go FI(turbo). I miss the life with the R, and although I always browse through the Type R forum, I just miss parcticipating as an active R owner. I dont know how many of you have sold your R, and purchased another one, but those who have, respond tell me your story, ups and downs with it, and what not. I have driven many, many car... I know I am young. But my dad owns a used car operation, and I have gotten my hands on a lot of different performance vehicles. And there is nothing like the R.
I want to be able to drive the car on the street, but at the same time the modifications I want to do to a R if I get one, might not permit that. Either way, I miss that car so much, as well as being a part in this forum. I learned so much here from before I got the car, and while I had the car, and even after.
to all of you R guys, to the R's, I miss the forum, and smart cool crowd that is all in here.
to the fawkin thieves. Let me know if any of you are selling/considering selling through my email shawntreadway@hotmail.com I most likely will be looking within a month to three. Cheers, -Shawn

PM me if you want a '97 (i.e. = real ITR
). I'm not giving it away, but I'll see if anyone can appreciate such a torque-reprived beast of Japanese art the way I do.

I will probably only buy one from another honda-tech member, like I did my first time. Unless I find some rare 15k miles or less around the net. -Shawn
i'm on my second one... got rid of the first one because i wanted a more comfy car for some reason... got rid of that, got an s2k, wanted room again so i am here settled on my second type r... if the s2k had more room i'd still have it

Anyone here ever watch the BMI vids about the R's?
Its amazing what a stock R can do to even larger displacement turbo cars of its same era.
THe R truly means something, its a shame the emblems can be purchased at just about every dollar store.............

Mine was stolen too. Replaced with the evo but still miss the itr. So I'm trading the evo for an itr next week
IMO, the evo is fast but has no soul, it's like a fast Accord.

Please share your story of why you guys want the R again.
What cars have you guys driven after selling the R? What's the experience and comparison with the R and why you guys want the R again.
We have heard enough theft problem....etc, and sometimes making me want to trade in the R, then again it is story like this and driving the R on the road again that makes me wants to keep it. So please share some stories. Thanks.

I remember you.. we use to bump into one another in the early mornings on azusa ave with my jap front yellow R.
I gave up the R to a good guy about 4yrs ago then purchased a house. I miss my R from time to time but living in a 5 bedroom home by myself makes me feel a lot better about my compromise
I've also been thinking of purchasing another one.. Once you drive a honda/acura.. you're hooked for life.. it just keeps calling me.

I'm on my third R now. I've had 2 WRX's, a hybrid EK, an S2000, E36 M3, an STi, and now i'm back in a 01 NBP R. The only car that iw ould consider getting rid of it for out of all of those would be another STi, and even then it'd be a hard choice.

I really miss my R too
. I killed mine on the way to Expo 5 but she's gone on to do what she (and/or me) always seemed to enjoy most, being a track car. It took me almost two months to make my mind up to get something else, a G35 Coupe 6MT, but it wasn't the same and part of me regrets having bought what I bought. Its just not as well balanced and as fun as the R was. The only two things under 60K that comes close would be an Elise or a Boxster S, both of which I've also thought of buying used. I've also thought about getting another Type R and maybe I will. There's a practical side of me that's not too crazy about buying an at least 5 year old car that is a bit of an unknown. Too bad there's nothing else like it made now, at least that's in a reasonable price range.

Don't even get me started.

After my R I went to a RSX-S, put some mugen coilovers on it, and some work wheels, even a Type R wing, to try to get some of the feeling back. It just wasnt the same. My dad owns a used car business, so I have driven a wrx, e500 sport, and a variety of other cars. NOTHING, and i mean nothing came close. That R was my baby. I loved the FBP, and I wouldnt have one in any other color, besides NHBP. The car is unlike any other and in impossiblt to replicate. I made my decision, and once I get settled into the military, I WILL
be getting another. I will be garaging it, and have a DD for wherever base im at.
But after a lot of thinking, there is nothing like that car. Its a dying breed, and we(all h-t type r guys) are just about the only ones who know how to care, and appreciate the car as it should. I know a kid who is a year younger than me who is way into taking pills to get fucked up, he drives a 97, and the thing has been destroyed, front bumper and hood have been crashed and he drives around with it like that. This is one of two accidents I have seen on this kids car. It breaks my heart so much. I know all of the guys who have sold theres and want another one, should go through with it, providing everything will work out with it.
I thank all you guys again for all of the knowledge you have put on here, and how much I have learned in here. To name a few for short that have impacted my life with a type R. Black R, the guy who had that amazing NHBP, or FBP turbo fully built, which I believe was sold. I cant remember his name on here. I htink he lived in NOVA, Asspenny, and Mike M, yoshi, Opie, and there are a few others who I cant remember as of now. But cheers for all the great stuff you have put up here over the years. I cannot wait to get back into this **** full force. -Shawn
