Default Weird Shifting Problem

OKay today I was racing and when i went to go from 3rd to 4th my shifter didn't want to move it felt like it was stuck in gear, so I thought my tranny was done or something, but it turns out it isn't. I tried putting it into reverse and it went so I tried all forward gears also and they all went but the thing is my shifter now has alot of resistance to go into gear, its not as easy as it was before to go into gear, it goes but its like you have to force it. Do you think its my tranny?? or do you think i got an air leak in the master cylinder or something?? I have a H22A4 with a H22 tranny. So its a Hydraulic tranny thats cable controlled. Any help would be great.

hey check this out dude, I went out there and checked my fluid and it was all good. Then i shifted all the gears with the clutch in you know just in the car and they all seemed to be fine and went back to normal. U think it was because of the stress the fluid got really hot making it very hard to go in??

I checked the clutch master cylinder. The tranny fluid is less than a month old. I just think the tranny got hot and wasn't grabbing or the clutch did. It seems to be fine now though thats whats tripping me out.

i had this same problem, my problem was the syncros. they had some trash in them. what i did was take the tranny off and then take it apart so you can look at all the gears n such, then check your syncros for what ever gear your having problems with and if it is in a bind try to break em loose, but becareful doing this, just do light taping all the way around the syncro. but this is just what happend to me so its your call

I just did a complete tranny rebuild and everything. All syncros were good and all gears and bearings and everything was good. So the trannys brand new you could say.

Well jsut cause the tranny is new/ rebuilt dosent mean that the fluid cant be dirty.. IMO, i wqould jsut check the fluid level, and color, just to be sure..and plus whjen you get a tranny rebuilt your suppose to flush it out after a month or so...

you're worrying too much. i'd check your mounts though. my **** didn't even go into gear until i put some juice into it. i changed all my solid mounts and got torque mount inserts and now i go into gears like butter. it can also be difficult to put into gears when you turn, hit bumps, etc...

take it for a drive... and stop worrying.

i bet your shift cable is breaking. I've broken a couple, and your describing exactly what happens in the early stages of failure.

Yeah you know its in my nature to worry I guess then but better to worry then to not give a expletive and have that **** break. I don't got money just sitting around to fix things all the time when they break so yeah I'd be a lil stressed. Good thing I've got an extra set of cables then to replace them with. Thanks for telling me about that whole tranny flush after a month, cuz I didn't know that so I'm gonna do that next week then.

Place racing used to make a box that the stock shifter bolted into, instead of using the stock plate. The shifter sits down lower, and the cables leave the box under the car, so there is no need to cut a hole for the shift cables to pass through. I've got a pic of it on my home pc, but I'm at work now, so I can't post it up yet.

H22 in del sol with HCP mounts. the shift cables start off under the car by the shifter, go over the crossmember then to the tranny. the cables (2 of them) both broke right next to where the forward/backward cable clipped into the bracket on the tranny. I had a hard time getting into 1,3,5 for a while, then I couldn't get in those gears at all. The shifter would also get stuck in 2,R sometimes. I think the biggest giveaway though was that I could be in 3rd and still push the shifter an inch or so forward even though I was completely in gear.

only thing hard about it is dropping the subframe about an inch if you ran your cables over it like I did. Other than that its a piece of cake.
