cams for 94 LS w/ 12.5:1 compression
what would be a good recommendation for my LS all motor set-up?? what companies are worth its money for a good pair of camshafts?? thanks all inputs are appreciated.

Crower, Crane, Web, JG, Rocket, Exospeed,.......
Look around. If you are running 12.5:1 Compression, you want a big cam. Is this a daily driver?
Look into
Crower 404's or 405's
Crane #18 or #20
Exospeed LS Race Cam
Rocket Motorsports LS Race Cam
There are plenty of others, but you will have to search.

yes sir this is my daily driver i've heard crower 404's are pretty popular. but what's the diff in 404 and 405?? sorry my knowledge on all motor is vague.

404's and 405's are 2 totally different cams. The 405's are far larger than the 404's and carry different specs that I recommend that you check out before you buy. ( http://www.crower.com )
Also the 405's are pretty sensitive to setups from what I have seen. They like lots of fuel, lots of air, and lots of compression. Beware, I have seen these cams either make or break a setup. So research wisely!

you also want to make sure that the cam you are getting will clear the piston that you are using. I'm assuming CTR pistons? or forged? you dont want to go super crazy on the cams with high lift that they will have problems with the piston.

^^^yup they're forged JE Pistons thanks for that info. u think re-grind camshafts are worth it? b/c i have a very reputable shop here intown and they focus mainly on all motor set-ups and they custom re-grind cams for LS/GS/RS non-vtec motors. their lifts are within factory specs of the valve-train, however i have upgrades valves, springs, and retainers so i would think that they'll be good for starters and if i like em a bit more aggressive i can always go w/ crower cams n such.

What are the specs of your pistons?
Dome displacement in cc?
Compression height?
Just curious on this one, but what is the weight of the piston if you know? This wont affect a compression calculation, but it is a good thing to know for rotational mass, engine stress, and rotating assembly speed, velocity, and accelleration.

IMHO if your runnin 12.5:1 you can get away with a larger cam than a regrind has the potential to offer. i dunno what your supporting mods are, they would be helpfull picking the exact cam for your setup.

i am also awaiting piston specs. A lot of ppl orders pistons not realizing their true application and misread what motor they yield the compression numbers for.
Most manufactures only list B18a/b compression numbers for LS/Vtec's and not allmotor LS's. I estimate the numbers will be lower than expected. I just need teh measurement I asked for earlier.
