So I've had a Hawker G13EP lightweight battery for almost 3 years now and it's done a really good job firing up my car on cold nights as well. However, I believe that the alternator issues I've had recently discharged the battery significantly and it finally gave up the ghost. I bought mine for $25 at evparts.com, but they no longer carry it. More recently I'd seen it at evsurplus.com (I believe that was the site) for $45... but that site appears not to exist anymore. Now, the few places I've seen it carry it for $70-100! Does anyone know where to get this battery inexpensively? Or one similar, for that matter. I like this battery specifically because it weighs 10.8 lbs, did last 3 years, started my WRX on cold nights after sitting for 2 weeks, and would start the WRX 6+ times with no charge time between in warm weather. It's pretty stout.

Are there any other batteries for a similar price point that can offer comparable performance?

back from the dead, where u able to find a battery for the old low price?

 

mine came from surplusev, but that was a few years ago.

jsut visited the car for the first time since august, my hawker has been on a battery tender al that time, worked like a charm, even with the extended cranking time(s) it took to actually get the car started

surplusev wasn't selling last time I checked.

I ended up with a bike battery from Sears. Worked fine for a little while. Moved on to a lawnmower battery from Pep Boys.

Surplusev is no more.

The Odessey battery is apparently the exact same thing as the Hawker. Same case and everything, different label. They seem to be going on ebay for ~$80.

I got a motorcycle battery from Wally World. Seems to be doing fine and is lighter than the Hawker it replaced. But you have to install the acid and charge it before use. It is inexpensive though....

they were the cheapest I found, I have seen the same battery on some websites for over $100. I think they carry the whole line of batteries

 

That's a very good price. VERY good. I wonder if it's still $60 this year....
