Default 99-00 Si swaybar on an EX - worthwhile upgrade?

I'm sorry I'm a n00b, please don't flame me.

I have a 97 civic EX coupe, and I've been looking at rear swaybar setups. I'm interested in doing some light AutoXing, but it's mainly street-driven.

I've been looking at the ASR subframe brace, with a CTR rear swaybar setup and Omni LCA's. Then, I looked at my wallet and frowned.

My question is: Will I feel a noticeable difference over stock with an OEM 99-00 Si rear swaybar? Or should I jump straight to the ASR kit with a CTR/ITR rear swaybar?

Also, does my car even HAVE a front swaybar? Would that be worth upgrading as well?

I'm currently rolling on H&R Sport springs with Tokico blue shocks (upgrading to KYB AGX's this summer hopefully). Wheels and tires are 16x7" Rota Grids with 205/45/16 Hankook RS2-Z212 tires.

yes going to any rear sway bar will help, the 13mm from the SI will help, but obviously no where near as much as the 22mm CTR/ITR.

13mm requires no subframe brace like ASR, but 19mm and up does. So although more expensive, i'd wait and go with 22mm...especially if your going to auto-x

yes, you do have a front sway bar, 22mm.
the 13mm si, while it will help quite a bit, ultimately will leave you wanting something stiffer. i have a 14mm rear right now, and i still have lots of body roll and somewhat imprecise handling.

^ I know exactly what you mean I recently put my 14mm GSR sway bar on the market and bought a ASR subframe brace + 22mm ITR sway bar for the same reason.

I have an Si rear sway on my car and it is a noticable difference from nothing. It is a very cost effective, especially since you don't need a subframe brace. If you need more rotation you can always run more rear spring, but I find that if you first starting out, it's probably all you need until you get a better feel of the car.

From nothing to a sway bar, be it 13mm, will make an improvement in handling by reducing understeer. I have a 99-00 Si rear way bar for sale if you want it. PM me.

This guy is within driving distance from you and he still has the ST bars. I almost got them for myself but opted for the ASR kit. I'll definately get back to you when it is installed with a "Product Review" . Also there is a moderator of the Pacific Forum on SH that is selling the Comptech combo for a little cheaper than the ASR kit shipped to your door or hand delivered since he commutes from the Riverside area to SDSU.
