Default Need help: JDM Ashtray into USDM console?

Does the ashtray/cigarette lighter from a JDM itr center console fit into the center console of a USDM integra?

I know they are reversed but I need to find out if it will fit, because I got the cig/ashtray piece from a JDM teg, and thats the only piece missing from my teg console

Thanks,

it'll fit...the only thing different is the lighter is on the opposite side.

Just lengthen the wires if they aren't long enough. That would be the only problem I could see with this.

I was thinking that I might have to do that. Its that the Teg dash, console, armrest etc is in an EG Civic coupe and there is no ashtray with it. So I sourced a JDM one for cheaper than I could get a USDM one for. Thats why Im asking.

you can also unclip the plug so it hangs freely giving you a little more length..

Is it possible to mount it to the other side or upsidedown or something like that so it will work? Just fishing for ideas at this point to see how it will work the best.

It wont fit without cutting and fitting it. I know I did it.

The curve of the USDM console is to the right, the curve of the JDM consloe is to the left. Look at the lighter, you will see the lower corner is trimmed away to fit this curve.

I got mine to fit by trimming the ash tray to fit the curve, however there is a gap on the lighter side because it has the curve built in, but the console is straight.

You will also have to trim inside the cosole to get everything to fit. I did all of this, and ran an extra screw into the consloe to make it all tight.

I think I have a picture at home, not 100% sure if I do but I will look.

Thanks for the information. If you would be able to get a picture of it that would be amazing.

Thanks

Look at the way the console goes on the left side, and look at the lighter, it has the curve.

wow....you got it to fit.

Not bad, but I say you'd be better off buying the USDM one.....unless you want to do what racermech did.

all you need is the face plate for the coin holder, face plate for the cup holders and a face plate for the lighter. no more then 30-40 bucks for both. perfect fit, simple bolt ons and ur done man.

</TD></TR></TABLE>

hmmm I always wondered how much it would cost just for that one area ( sans the plastic piece around the shift boot ) to have all the type R parts....brand new of course.....

http://www.acuraautomotiveparts.org :

illustration number 7: $9.41 $8.06 ( if you got it from the website )

illustration number 14: $26.22 $22.29 ( if you got it from the website )

illustration number 15: $14.57 $12.38 ( if you got it from the website )

Total $50.20 $42.73 ( if you got it from the website )

close estimate max......but that's without shipping ( parts 14 and 15 would total $40.79 or $34.67 if you ordered it from the site )

you're also going to need illustration number 8 for that top "bar" in carbon look if you want to complete the look that is: $87.53 $74.40 ( if you got it from the website )
That would jump the totals to... $137.73 or $117.13 ( ordered from the website ).

Expensive ain't it?

Ummm.....could it be that no one yet knows that it won't fit and that its theoretically a bit cheaper to purchase than say.....oooh brand new Acura USDM parts? ( refer to my post above ).

And why let this get to you? Chill out man. To each their own...if you don't like it, you don't like it. No need to get all crazy about it.

Before i know that it would not fit I got it for $20, thought it was a good deal and would go nice with all my other carbon (I know it is fake carbon) I figured I had it, so why not make it work.

The JDM/USDM ash tray are the same thing, this is not the holy grail i cut up, it id just an ash tray.

</TD></TR></TABLE> There was a lot of cutting behind the lighter. And it only left me with one screw to hold it all in place. You cant see it in the pic, but there is another screw right at the front above the ash tray. I need to change the screw to get it to all fit a bit better.

i know man, i know.. i've tried pretty damn hard since this jdm craze came about.. i mean everyone is snatching up jdm this, jdm that... for bragging rights it seems like.

i guess its the good ol JDM bandwaggon and alot of people bought season passes for the ride.

idk, im content with my USDM ****.. i mean if it works, fine, it works.. jdm intakes and cf this and that, doesnt work any better than whats on the cars already.

but on another note, yeah you're right, just let it go, drop it, do some bad boys 2 woosahhh pressure points on my ears and ****, and let it go

Because its going in an EG Civic with an Integra Dash conversion and there was no plate with it and Im getting it for free and the ones on eBay are like $50 for a USDM one.
