pros/cons of skunk2 manifold on gsr??
Im getting a b18c1 swap, was wondering if I should put skunk2 manifold before i drop it in. I hear alotta ppl talking about how good this piece is, and others say I should keep the stock double runner butterfly thing. So could someone explain to me the pros/cons of this mod, and also how many horsies to expect?

After some of my own research I've heard the following Cons:
Cons:
Loss of low end
Pain to install
Best with bigger cams (ie ITR/CTR os bigger cams)
Best to swap with new R throttle cable
I'm sure there are many people who can give you first-hand experience better than I can, but that is what I've found.

Pros: Pull harder up top because of better air flow, hell of alot louder, to me that is good.
Cons: Cost due to extensive labor ~4-5 hours worth, loss in bottom end power, need ITR CAI if you have the GSR CAI, would be better to have VAFC for tuning, need to have an ITR throttle body cable bracket so your sturt bar will fit, or you can bend your old one(ITR cable bracket not expensive).
With I,IM,H,cat, and catback, untuned I got 158whp. Do a search of topics created by me and I've posted the dyno plot before.

will a b16a trottle body cable braket fit on the skunk2 im for a gsr? Also, isnt there away to make the gsr cai fit on the skunk2??
the reason the GSR cable bracket won't work with the sturt bar w/out modification is because the stock gsr Intake manfold slopes up from the throttle body(Throttle Body is lower) so the cable bracket is verticle, and every other honda Intake Manifold that doesn't have the "economical" Dual Stage Intake Manifold, has a Intake manifold that slopes down to the the head from the throttle body(Throttle body is higher), and their brackets run horizontal, so I would say the the b16a2 bracket would work, not for sure though.
I've HEARD of people modifying their GSR AEM CAI, but not exactly sure on how its done, I know there is some cutting envolved, or how this effects the flow in the intake. Best thing is to go w/ an ITR intake( stock or aftermarket). But thats even more $$$

They said I need a Gasket also. What kind of Gasket do I need to make it fit? Also, the shop told me i didn't need to buy an ITR Intake. They said they can make my GS-R intake fit with the S2 IM. Is that true??
Let me know what else I need. thanks!

a simple little hack to keep your gsr throttle cable is to move the bracket down a hole on the throttle body, so that it sits lower. the only down side to this is that now there is only one bolt holding up the bracket, but its no big deal.

Note that I am using a bored b16 TB. The TB cable bracket is an ITR bracket with ITR throttle cable.....those parts are not that expensive and they make the installation go so much smoother

it usually pops out. zip ties cured it.
canuck-ur GSR looks nice
Question will the comptech Ice box for a GSR work well with the Skunk11,because I have one on the way from comptech?

Yeah on my car i have the Skunk2 intake manifold skunk2 stage 2 cams Skunk2 cam gears valves springs 3angle valve job and ported and polished the head i used all stock parts for the manifold including the intake but for some reason on top end im running rich do u think if i get the VAFC that will fix the problem i have and im using my stock ECU does anyone have any clues????
would it be possible/better to just put a Type R intake manifold on your GSR?
how bout a JDM one with the fuel rail and all that jazz...?
if so, what are the pros and cons of this...?

JDM ITR manifold = USDM manifold minus a vacumm port or two
cons = cost of new ITR manifold is about $215-250 + moding ($50-200)
pros = lighter wallet = quicker

skunk2 manifold is just like an ITR manifold but with the mounting flanges that fit a GSR....to make the ITR one work it will cost you $50-200 in machine work, to do it...

meaning the type R manifold should flow better?
The skunk2 mani is just as smooth. Take a look here http://members.rogers.com/canuckmx6/IMG_0857.JPG
I did not post it as a picture because the resolution is 2048 x1536, too big. You can see the inside of one of the runners of the manifold
