Yes, there is a cover that is supposed to go there.....Because you can tell by the bolt inserts

That blot hole isn't for a cover its for this piece that bolts under the engine to the tranny

you missing a dust shield. it looks like a half circle and is held on by 2 oil pan bolts and 2 brackets from the motor to the tranny. you dont need it i never put them back on and havent had any problems

This is true but once you start to get crap up in there is can lead to early wear and tear on things. I would suggest trying to source one if at all possible. Getting sand up in the tranny might not be the best thing for it.

i just ground mine down alittle bit so it would fit nice and easy... 2 bolts and its on there to prevent any future headaches... just put it on its not worth the risk driving around w/o it... expecialy if you drive down dirt roads or live where it snows or anything like that

i never put them back on my cars. Only cars at work because customers are paying for me to do the job right. But IMO you don't need it, i've driven though 2 feet of snow for about 30 minutes and the clutch didn't slip and when i pulled it out 6 months later it looked "a ok"

I originally put mine on, but then a year later I changed the clutch and didnt put it back on. I really think its just a matter of opinion. But what said about the <TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by CRX Toad &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">

I think he has a point. maybe I will put mine back on next time I change the clutch!

when i replaced my clutch, that thing was such a pain to get back on. if i werent so stubborn of keeping all the parts i wouldve definately thrown it out.

Just put the cover on there. It takes 2 minutes and could save you a LOT of hassle.

You don't want any extra stuff up in there. I for one, don't like pulling my tranny, so I don't want to lessen the life of my clutch or flywheel.

leave it off, it extends the life of your clutch. it lets going under the car keep the clutch cool. i dont run one and ive never had problems.

I can't believe there is even any debate as to whether or not it should be replaced. If it wasn't necessary, why would Honda even have one in the first place? Go to the junkyard or order one from slhondaparts.com like the guy above me said.

never in my entire life would i pay $17 for one. I stand by the fact that you can go without it. I've never had it on any of mine. thats like 100,000 miles of combined driving without that plate. Including harsh Manitoba winters.

Oh yeah, i live in Norway. Harshest winters there is. Over here we even salt our dogs before we take them for a walk, and the trees so that they survive the winter.
