This is true but once you start to get crap up in there is can lead to early wear and tear on things. I would suggest trying to source one if at all possible. Getting sand up in the tranny might not be the best thing for it.

i just ground mine down alittle bit so it would fit nice and easy... 2 bolts and its on there to prevent any future headaches... just put it on its not worth the risk driving around w/o it... expecialy if you drive down dirt roads or live where it snows or anything like that
i never put them back on my cars. Only cars at work because customers are paying for me to do the job right. But IMO you don't need it, i've driven though 2 feet of snow for about 30 minutes and the clutch didn't slip and when i pulled it out 6 months later it looked "a ok"

I think u just summed it up. The right thing to do is put it on!

I originally put mine on, but then a year later I changed the clutch and didnt put it back on. I really think its just a matter of opinion. But what said about the <TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by CRX Toad »</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">

I think he has a point. maybe I will put mine back on next time I change the clutch!

sand, pebbles, chipmunks, craftsman sockets- it runs fine wihout any filters too...
close it the fawk up.
(lol at remebering a friend popping a rod and swearing he left a 12mm inside after changing the starter)

Just put the cover on there. It takes 2 minutes and could save you a LOT of hassle.
You don't want any extra stuff up in there. I for one, don't like pulling my tranny, so I don't want to lessen the life of my clutch or flywheel.

I can't believe there is even any debate as to whether or not it should be replaced. If it wasn't necessary, why would Honda even have one in the first place? Go to the junkyard or order one from slhondaparts.com like the guy above me said.
never in my entire life would i pay $17 for one. I stand by the fact that you can go without it. I've never had it on any of mine. thats like 100,000 miles of combined driving without that plate. Including harsh Manitoba winters.
im missing mine as well.
look at it.

Oh yeah, i live in Norway. Harshest winters there is.
Over here we even salt our dogs before we take them for a walk, and the trees so that they survive the winter.
