Default Alternator question 97 DX hatch

Heres the deal...I just put in a new Alternator since the one in the car was taking a poop on me. So i took the other out and put in this one. Usually a 15-20min job (if your slow like me)...Not this time. So i put the new one in and wall ahhh no more blinking lights and shitty idle and jumping speedo. So i drive it around the block and than to the gas station. About a mile down the road i notice the speedo not working and all the interior lights turn off and my cd player beep (pioneer) as if the car was turning off. Than the car sputtered and died....So i pop the hood (might i add it was freezing out side and snowing for sympathy points) and took a look at the alternator and two wires some how have been ripped out of the harness. The black yellow and white blue are the wires pulled out.

My question is, does anyone know which wire goes where? If someone could please find out for me, im searching while im typing this. I tried to put them back BY on top and WB on bottom and the car did the exact same thing. Im thinking there backwards but its too damn cold and dark to check. So if anyone could please help me out on this one it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a million Oh and this is on a D16 Non-Vtec

Nobody on this board has any idea? As smart as most people are on this board and no one has a clue...

I just used black as the example becuase on the Honda site it does not state what color that last pin is. Sorry should have clearified. Now the top would be were the little locking tab would go, so where yellow is that is considerd the top becuase the tab is there.

Do you have any idea if a 2000 civic alternator's wiring is any different that a 1997's? I got my alternator off of a 2k and im wondering if thats the situation. Im getting a harness and wires from a junk yard today so we will see i guess. Thanks for all your help...

HMMMM i wonder if the connection just isn't good enough. Im going to have to wait until i get this harness and wire it in, and see how things go. Thanks for all your help and i will keep you updated.

Well today after work i picked up a connector from a junk yard with cables already attached. So than i solder the wires together and matched the colors and than plugged it back into the alternator. Well I started the car and it sits and runs good, so i turned on my lights and they were very dim. So i turn on the AC to get the Alternator to kick on and as soon as i turn on teh AC boom the radio shuts off along with the climate control lighting. Than the car starts sputtering again and dies. Than would not start again. So im thinking dead cell or i got ripped on the alternator!!

Any idea's? The reason for me changing the alternator was bc my speedo was bouncing like a mad man and all the lights in the car would flicker and would even change the idle to fluctuate along with the dimming.

Someone please help this is getting on my last damn nerve...Thanks
