ok i go to open my car and my remote lock doesn't work...im like ok great my alarm is messed up again...then i go to start my car and some of my dash lights don't light up and my stereo won't turn on and all that i hear when turning the key is a grinding noise (obviously the starter). Is this a dead battery?

 

Most likely. Remove the battery and take it to autozone or advanced to have it tested.
