Default Whats intake setup for my 2.0L, looking for 250whp+!?!?

OK, so I've got a 2.0L gsr sitting in my basement, if you seen my post about the RMF header I got theres pics in there....What intake system are you guys running on 240+whp setups?

I was thinking about getting either TWM itb's, or just doing a 70-72mm TB with a ported skunk2 that i already have, what do you guys think i should run? Keep in mind this is going to be my daily driver in summer. It will be tuned with 2 chips, 1 on 94 pump, and 1 on 110.

my setup is:

BLOCK:
85mm GE sleeved block
1"GE deckplate
89mm stroke
6.3777" custom cunningham rods
13.5:1 custom forged arias pistons

HEAD:
GSR head ported by Darrel ***
Crower/REV valvetrain.
1mm oversize intake and exhaust valves
Toda C camshafts

EXHAUST:
RMF narrow header
Full 2.5" magnaflow exhaust
14"res
18" stock style hi flow muffler.

why such a large TB? 68mm would be fine, 70top's. I'd say AEM 3" CAI, or velocity stack from prototype racing.

Do you think that would make more power than the itb's? Or just better for being street driven?

All comes down to tuning although ITB's will make more power but they cost more and may be more tricky to tune.

Is that a port matched Skunk Inlet manifold? Is it cut welded? With good tuning and a 68mmTB you will make good power and its a lot less cheaper than ITB's. Saying that ITB's tuned right give awesome midrange.

Did you check clearance on those valves yet.

no, dave at headgames is align honing my cam caps right now. i have not clayed anything yet.

and to answer the question about the manitfold, theres nothing done to the skunk2 yet, its sitting on my other gsr right now.

on that note is there a better manifold to use then porting the skunk2 ?

You could have a custom intake manifold made for less than a set of TWM's. Manifolds tend to have greater potential for peak power. ITB's tend to make more in the midrange area. It depends on what you want to emphasise and how much you want to spend.

There are a few good modified intake manifolds out right now. Endyn and TrackSpeedRacing both have modified ITR (or skunk2) IM's that have shown good power gains. The JG Victor-X is the best bang-for-the-buck IM out there.

With a plenum you have a greater potential for power past 8000rpms.

With ITB's you have tremendous throttle response and great midrange, not too shabby on the topend either.

yeh, although i'd recommend a ported AEBS, cheap and you will see considerable mid-range over the victor x

Go to Red Line Weber, the'll have complete setup including the Intake manifold to the throttle cable linkage mechanism. maybe it would be arround $1000.

we used a Victor X intake manifold from JG Edelbrock with a port matched 70mm throttle body in my setup. untuned, the 2.0L crvtec motor put down 244whp with 164 ft. lbs. of torque. the first pass on the motor put down like 225 whp and like 155 ft. lbs. of torque. we'll be cleaning up the graph with a vafc tomorrow night or so...we're looking to make some more gains on this setup

compression is 11.5-11.8 with the RS ITR pistons and no mill on the head...perfect for socal 91 octane.

use your skunk2 unported with a 65mm TB at the throttle plate but tapered.

i had a jg sheetmetal on my 85x92 build....and it got ditched for an Eldebrock Victor X.....it's deff the manfiold you should go with as well.

68-70-72...doesn't really matter...as long as it's matched to the opening of the manfiold you'll be fine.

oh, and DITCH THAT 2.5" EXHAUST...NOW! go 3"

thanks for the input.

and i wont ditch the exhaust. i got a custom RMF narrow going to 2.5" i talked to randy about this he said 3" would probly be to big the best would be 2.75" but no one here has the di's to bend it. so we both decided on 2.5"

i made 240ishwhp with a MILD ported AEBS manifold and a 70mm SKunk2 Throttle body.

my 2.0l lsvtec with 12:1 compression, Skunk2 PRO3 camshafts and a Rage header. The rage was great in the mdrange, but died up top, i have a new header that im going to test and see if i can pick up some more top end

are talking collector or exhaust....cause, there's a big difference. i've YET to see a 2.0L NOT gain a LOT of power/tq going to 3" exhaust...don't know why yours would be any different
