Default Highway shimmy. Cold mornings - fades away

Alright, I've noticed this problem both saturday and today. When i get on the highway on a cold morning, the car shakes - it has a shimmy pretty damn badly. The engine is of course warm - but i guess the damn car is just cold???
So, i usually get off the highway, make a few turns to try to "loosen" some things up. Then i get back on the highway, and I feel the shaking once again, but it noticeably fades away.........what do you think? I'm going to do an alignment on my car here in the next few days. It doesn't happen unless the car is cold(not the engine)......

Let me know what you think........

What kind of tires are you running? Sounds like they are freezing and once you start to drive/warm them up, they get back to being round.

I'm running on some el cheapos right now - waiting till this weekend(hopefully it'll start to warm up) before I get new wheels and tires.

So thats a good possibility.

It does get cold though - leave a cup of water in your car, and it will most definately be completely frozen in the morning.

cold like theres snow on the ground? because ice/snow is enough to throw your wheels out of balance until it melts/falls off.

yeah make sure you arent getting anything frozen onto your wheels/tires....

and if the tires are very cheap they could be very thrown off by temperature like that.....some good ones even are....my old potenza re-01s froze like that....

i feel that if i drive a car with a bent rim, even more when its cold cause when u first drive the car the cold tires have do give in them cause they are cold solid once u drive the car and they warm up they have more give in them and you feel the bend less

1.) you have snow in your wheels
2.) your tires are freezing
3.) you need to balance your tires

I'd say check them in that order...
