195k+ mile d16z6 - 75mm or 75.5 pistons?
I have a d16z6 with a little over 195k miles on it, and it runs like a champ. We just replaced the headgasket, timing belt, water pump, and put some arp headstuds on and it's ready to boost (compression is also 180 across the board). I might add that all of the internals looked freakin awesome, and pretty damn clean for an older motor.
Now my real question is, if in the future I plan on getting pistons for such a high milage block, should I go with 75mm (stock bore) or 75.5 (bored .020 over?). I want to know because I am not sure of how much wear and tear affects the actual cylinder wall. Of course if I go with 75mm, I'll still have the block honed by a shop, and for the 75.5 bore/hone would happen. Any help or insight as to what I should do would help
Also could someone reccomend me a good piston/rod combo? I want to go 9:1 compression, and im shooting for max of 350hp.

From everything that I've read, especially with a high mileage engine, you should bore it .020 over. Over time, your cylinders become egg-shaped (not noticable to the naked eye obviously). Boring them over ensure that they are in fact perfect circles.

Definitely. I have a Y8 block that I planned on putting stock bore Vitaras in, but I took a caliper & that T-shaped thingy (
) to the cylinder walls, and I was unable to spin the T-shaped thingy in a perfect circle without it getting stuck at some point.
That = out-of-round
