Default Ditching the ITR for a Stook??

i have been thinking about selling my ITR in the spring and getting an S2000. I am still just pondering this idea. If i can get $15k (CAD) for my ITR i think i might just do it. But after seeing the # of ITR's produced and the rarity of the car i might just keep. i wonder how much more the value of my ITR will drop? Although i wonder if i wait it out 5 more years and sell it then would i make a profit? Or will ITR's be going for 5-8k then? I love the car and all but i would rather jump out now if its going to depreciate a shitload over the next few years. The ITR has been a great Daily/Weekend racer and if i got the Stook it would be aswell. The only downside to the Stook is the small amount of cargo room. So i'd have to fabricate a Ghey trailer to tow around tires and equipment. Anyway one day i will upgrade to the Stook and it might be this summer if i can get what im asking (15kcad).

please feel free to bust out some class1c ITR oppinions.

and also what are your opppinions of going to an S2000.

That is all ....

well, not that i'd sell it for an S2K, but i'm pretty damn sure it'd be pretty easy to get $15,000 for it if you did

The S2K takes a little bit more talent to drive faster than the R, but once you get the hang of it, the S2K is faster and more fun (just not as forgiving).

The S2K is a great car, and very special - just not as special as the ITR. If you think you're going to be able to hop in the S2K and have the same kind of fun you have in the ITR, you're going to be disappointed, and probably looking for an ITR again soon.

Keep your car. If the S2K hardtop ever comes out, then you might have a legitimate reason to sell.

The depreciation on the ITR has been VERY low. However, I wouldn't buy or hold onto any car with the expectation of making a profit. Get whatever car you want to live with. A small two-seat RWD convertible is a very different car from the ITR. Both great cars, but it depends on which one fits YOUR needs and desires best.

I have seen '00-'01 S2000s go for $14,000 US. with 50k miles. Someone selling a '97-'98 ITR with 50kmiles would ask about $17,000. Thats about 70% of the orignal cost of the ITR as opposed to about 46% of the original cost of the S2000.

With fewer and fewer good examples of ITRs out there, their price will undoubtably go up. The price may go down until more are wrecked and stolen from unexperienced owner's hands. I think after that the price will go up substantialy for unmolested examples.

Besides your ITR looks awesome, post more pics.

I am not sure about being disappointed.... i have owned 2 itr's and would definately love to have another......both cars evoke joy when driving, especially the s2k with the top down......

and you can always buy a hardtop.....

to the original poster, if you can afford to, keep the R, and buy a s2k too...... that is what i am looking to do.....

shoot David a pm, he has both, and has lots of insight

keep the itr......

unless you have access to a larger vehicle on a daily basis, or some extra cash for a beater/daily driver......

i love my s2k, but i have a hatch that i drive a lot also, because sometimes the s2k just does not have enough room to do the things i need to do.....

Where are you looking? A friend of mine is looking to get one and that would be perfect price and mileage. I have yet to see one for that with a clean title....

I cant imagine that the price will go up......maybe.... if anything, i can see it holding its value on the few clean titled ones that are out there.....

i would not say that the s2k is mass produced, yes there numbers are more than the itr, but no where near, say civic numbers......

also, the s2k is (was) produced in the same factory as the nsx.....

Dunno about that. I doubt I'll be able to hop into an ITR and have as much fun as I do with my S2K. But we're just talking about fun right now. And fun involves both lift throttle and on throttle oversteer.

The S2K has no practical value whatsoever and forget about carrying anything in the trunk 'cept a golf bag. Tracks can be picky about letting S2Ks on track with only the "factory" rollover protection. There are drawbacks.

There goes the S2K salesman again ... He's the reason I bought one. Don't listen to this man. He is evil.

Don't be so sure. My car was a mother ****** to sell. Although I attribute it to the time of year I sold my caR (beginning of the winter)

Oversteer is addictive ... especially controlled oversteer
