I personally would recommend a set KSport coilovers, but that's cause I have em on my car and LOVE THEM. They're really, really good. Check out their website and if you're interested, email me (look in my profile) and I can hook you up with the guy I got my set from and he'd be able to get you a pretty good deal on them. There's also JLB Motorsports who are selling them here.
Other than the KSports, there's the D2 Coilovers, which are very similar to the KSports but a bit different, and of course the Tein Basics. You might even be able to find a set of Tein SS (Super Street) coilovers for at or under $1000 with a bit of looking...I'll edit and post a link if I find it.
A lot of people have the Teins, and few people have the KSports and D2s (just because they're newer to the USA market than Tein), but in my mind the KSports and D2s, moreso the KSports, are a much better deal for the money than Teins are.

it would probably help this guy out of you all would say why he should get what you think he should get...like saying "tein" or "koni/gc" isn't gonna help him out at all...at least it wouldn't help me at all if I was looking around for opinions...

it would also help if this guy told us what he wants to use his suspension for...street car, autox, track car...they all need different things...
tein basics or ss or koni/gc are great options..it depends on what he wants...
search what weve said and see what fits your needs..

The 1k spending flexability gives you a good amount of options.
Omni, Buddy Club, D2, maybe a used set of Tiens.
You could even go with the popular Koni + GC set up.
