I would contact the person that had the items stolen and have them contact the local police department for them to investigate further. I HATE THEIVES

And if you're caught, you're just as liable as the person that stole the parts.

police investigation!!!!! hah go beat that fools ***

police investigation lets examin this for a minute hmmm... your car gets stolen we're going to investigate they take finger prints for their own records but don't help in your cause and if the car isn't recovered yet they just wait for it to be found i know if it was like a murder but they don't care about petty theft but i really wish they would if my car got stolen

Now how does that work out if you're just buying parts and you think it's a good deal? They seize whatever you bought... But you don't get in trouble do you? I mean, unless they can prove that you somehow knew the stuff was stolen.

I remember I bought a subwoofer box setup back in highschool that I found out was stolen. (Stupid me just thought I was getting a good deal). Found out the guy it got stolen from went to my school too... I gave it back to him and he gave me a few bux. Lost some money, but felt good

Exactly. I couldn't have said it better myself. I half expect to see my old interior back in the car if they fix it.

Good for you! But remember, a deal that's too good to be true usually is. I have receipts for everything on my car. If I sell something, that receipt will be available to the buyer (well, except for the cams - bought those from Yack).

If I *knew* the parts were stolen, I'd do my best to get some sort of sting operation going. Get the police involved, and get that ****** caught red-handed selling stolen property.

acutally as long as you state that you didn't know that the part you bought was stolen, your a free man. However if you state that you did know or might have known or suspected, then your busted. Trust me I know this stuff. A friend got busted because he bought an apple labtop from a friend who works for apple's own store. Later on that year cops come to his house at like 6am and questioned him on buying a laptop. They asked him if he knew it was stolen. He said no. I thought that I was just getting the laptop for cheep under my friends employee discount. Then he said that since you guys are here, it must be stolen. Then then kept questioning him to confuse him and he ended up implying that he knew it was stolen even though he didn't. He's easy to mess with. Anyway Apple pressed charges on him and the person who worked their. My friends cousin who also bought a labtop had to cops come to him also. This time however when they asked him if he knew it was stolen, he said no and to leave or he will call his attorneys since he knew was what going on with his cousin. After that he was never mentioned to by Apple and nothing happened to him.

Theifs suck, however if someone takes my stuff, I'm all about an eye for an eye. Someone took my emblems once awhile back. I found out who it was and I stole my emblem back off his car. I looked at the emblem first to make sure it was mine because I put an X mark on the bottom of my emblems. Also you can tell a real R emblem. On the front of his car howeve was another R emblem which was real. It wasn't mine since they busted my other emblem, so I just left it alone. It wasn't mine for the taking.
As for a certain person who stole some of my old stereo equipment, I didn't want to break in their car and the cops wouldn't do anything because they hate me. See other posts of mine on why they hate me, so I caused damage to their car the netted the damage of my stolen items!

Not abig fan of thieves since I have been stolen from quite a few trimes before, but I don't think that is enought to say that all cops suck. My father and uch of my family are Chicago police officers and i take offense to that statement. I'm not going to argue back with another ignorant comment, but sometimes tehre Are just bigger things going on and they can't get to it right away.

I understand that some cities and towns may constitue poor policing, but it is not fair to say that cops suck for it.

As for the thieves

I have a question.

Say you buy some used mugen headers for what you thought was a reputable person and a price that is good (good like an actual good price, not like ridiculously low). You have no idea that it is stolen and you don't suspect anything. What if the popo find out that the header was stolen, will you still be in trouble?

Disclaimer: I'm not a proponent of theft (I believe most of us have bad experiences with it).

But using your logic (i.e. if you buy stolen, your stuff will be stolen) doesn't it also work out that if your stuff has been stolen, you "have the right" to buy stolen goods?

Ofcourse as a victim of car break-ins, I'd find it hard to visit a thief and give him money for something he fricking stole.

Heheh, never thought of it that way .
But theft is a supply and demand "industry". I'm not going to create more demand by buying stolen parts and supporting it. Too bad not everyone thinks like us here. If no one bought hot parts, thieves would be out of business.

people that buy stolen goods just **** me off and the people that take them in the first place just need to be shot....

i was talking to my friends about it and they said if they knew it was stolen but had a really good price on it they would buy it ...i flipped out, i explained the only reason people get stuff stolen in the first place is because there is always someone like you to buy that stolen good, and the cycle continues....they said but if someone offered you a stolen item at a good price you would buy it too...and i said no way, i wouldnt want to contribute to a theft ring that could eventually catch up to me and get my car stolen...i was so pissed at how they acted towards me the whole conversation....laughing at me because i wouldnt buy something stolen....but none of them have ever had anythign stolen so i wouldnt expect them to know how it feels....what ******** people (or even our friends) can be

sorry just venting

I would have your buddy contact the local detective, arrange a time for him/her to come over to your house, and coordinate the seller showing up at the same time as the cop.

If the seller is legit, he will be able to provide paperwork about the header, if not, then the cop takes it and gives it to your friend for free.

Think about it.

BUY IT WHO CARES J/K

I say do what you think is right. As for telling the cops. Just stay out of it. Dont get involved in someone elses mishapps. And how are you going to buy a RARE header in the states if you know the guy or see him around. You never know he may admire your car someday and ask you to pop the hood. Then what?
