Default disassembling my newly acuired head...wtf is going on here.

i just purchased a '95 gsr longblock today, was running but burned oil. i was disassembling the head tonight when i found this. i don't know what to even call it, or the area...but something doesn't look right. can someone explain?

the pictures are taken from the distributor side of the head.

compared to the crankpulley side.

i need some quick replies...as if something is up here i need to get my money back ASAP. thanks everyone.

that's normal. it's just the flashing left over from the casting.
