Basically the same process:

http://sportcompactcarweb.com/tech/0106scc_shift/

Just changed out my shifter to a GSR dual bend last weekend. Took me an hour including changing the bushings out for ES units, modifying the GSR shifter to fit, and torquing everything down to spec.

Actually, add in another 10 minutes for crying in agony because anti-rust coating fell into my eye (always wear safety goggles!).

If you can manage to hold a wrench, then yes. It's an easy-easy thing to do. Just take it slow and make sure you support your car on the proper jackstands. If you live in a place with a lot of salt on the roads, you may need some penetrating fluid in the event that something's rusted to hell.

Oh yeah, and if you don't have some, pick up an Energy Suspension bushing kit. Trust me when I say in comparison to the original bushing feel, the ES kit is like nothing else.

No more effective at all. You can only shift so fast.

People replace their shifters for shorter shifters so they have shorter shifts.
