Default power steering boots ripped. 4th gen

i noticed that the boots that come off my steering rack are ripped. is this some thing that i could replace before i damage the rack. my honda manual doesnt give instructions for just the boots. are they available? and do they need to be packed with grease like cv's? seems like there was some p.s. fluid dripping out. althou i dont think i was losing any fluid when the car was mobile. i know that they wont fit over the tie rod so i will have to remove it witch would make me need to get an alignment afterwards right?

yea you can get the boots separtely...mine as well do your inner tie rods at this time too...ripped boots accelerate wear on those and if your car has alot of miles on it theyre prob ready to be replaced anyway

if you count the exposed threads on the tie rod end you will be able to keep it fairly close

those boots are not made to hold ps fluid though....thats a bad seal in your rack....

Just replaced mine a couple of weeks ago, I also had some fluid leaking out, but I think it was just water collected while I was driving. Not too hard to replace, but a pain to get your hands in there

wow I have thre same problem. One question?? The boots in mine are getting ripped and I can see grease around them and my steering wheels shakes at higher speeds. Do I need to replace the entire rack and pinion along with all the rods orcan I jsut replace the boots and rods? anyone who can answer my question please thanks

just get new inner and outer tie rods and you should be fine....i doubt your rack is bad....

so when I replace both in and out tie rods and get new boots, should the grease leakage and steering wheel shaking stop? I was also skeptical about getting the whole rack new which could be way more expensive.

Well if your steering wheel shakes is probably not your rack and pinion unless is really messed up, but most likely is your tires that are not balanced.
